When some used Google to search for where to vote for their preferred presidential candidate, Google search results showed a map to poll locations for Kamala Harris, and news stories for Donald Trump. The tech giant was called out for it on X, said a "fix was coming" and then reported that it had "fixed" the apparent issue. 

Reports of the internet searches were posted by multiple accounts, sparking X owner Elon Musk to comment, "Are others seeing this too?" Accounts flagged the issue, showing that when one would search, "Where can I vote for Harris?" a map would populate, making the locating polls somewhat easier than if one were to search, "Where can I vote for Trump?" which resulted in news results.

Google responded to the reports, commenting on the post from Musk and said, "Thx for this. The 'where to vote' panel is triggering for some specific searches bc Harris is also the name of a county in TX. Happens for 'Vance' too bc it’s also the name of a county. Fix is coming. Note very few people actually search for voting places this way."

The tech giant later said that the apparent error was "fixed" after it was pointed out by users. 

Trump-backer David Sacks, however, responded to Google, saying that the claim from Google was "total nonsense" and added, "'Where to vote' appears if you don’t type in a name. It goes away when you type in Trump — or Vance for that matter," and added screenshots to show his searches. 

The map display that appeared when prompted by the Google search was paid for by the Democracy Works' "Voter Information Project." Democracy works got its largest donation ever from left-wing ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, Mackenzie Scott.
