A man who smelled like fuel and was carrying a torch and a flare gun was arrested at the Capitol on Election Day.
The U.S. Capitol Police said they stopped the man, whom they did not immediately name, in the screening area of the Capitol Visitor Center.
The Capitol Visitor Center is closed to tours for the remainder of the day while police investigate.
“We will provide more information when we can,” Capitol Police said on X.
