Former GOP Rep and Kamala Harris surrogate Liz Cheney appeared on The View on Monday, speaking on wives lying to their spouses about how they cast their vote in the 2024 election as well as the claims that Trump said late last week that he wanted Cheney to be placed in front of a firing squad.
Cheney was also asked about Trump’s comments at a Glendale, Arizona event with Tucker Carlson, in which he said of "war hawk" Cheney, "Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, okay? Let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face. You know they're all war hawks when they're sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, 'Oh, gee, well let's send, let's send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy.' But she's a stupid person. And I used to have, I'd have meetings with a lot of people, and she always wanted to go to war with people."
Left-wing pundits and outlets quickly claimed that Trump wanted Cheney executed by firing squad, with Cheney writing at the time, "This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant."
Cheney said on The View, "he's said this, this nonsense about sort of, you know, war hawk before, but what he did a couple of days ago, he's never done before."
"Taking the step of saying, you know, nine rifles shooting her in the face and he knows what he's doing. He knows it's a threat to intimidate. Obviously, the intimidation won't work, but, what he's doing, frankly, is every day, when I'm out there, I’m talking about his lack of fitness and especially making sure people remember what he did while he watched television, as as our Capitol was attacked."
Co-host Sara Haines later asked, "You've been campaigning with Vice President to woo Republican, specifically Republican women, telling them, quote, 'you can vote your conscience and never have to say a word to anybody.' Now, some conservative men are furious about this. Are you surprised that this has caused such a reaction? And what do you make of the idea that voting in your own self-interest could be a betrayal of your husband? Will women save the day this election?"
Cheney replied, " Well, number one, yes, women are going to save the day in this election."
"And every time you see people like Charlie Kirk or Donald Trump, those people come out and act as though they're somehow horrified that, you know, a woman might make her own decision about how she's going to vote," Cheney continued.
Cheney has told voters that they can vote for Harris, and "vote your conscience," and "not ever have to say a word to anybody." Cheney has also called Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk a "twit" for raising issue about Democrats pushing wives to lie about how they cast their ballot in the election after an advertisement suggested women do so.
In the Monday show, Cheney also claimed that "some of those people working for Donald Trump" have "talked about repealing the 19th Amendment," which gave women the right to vote.
"So people need to really, really remember the misogynist aspect of all of this," Cheney added.
Haines asked Cheney about Trump saying that "he was going to help women whether they like it or not," a statement he made while speaking on the illegal immigration crisis and crime carried out by some of those who have come into the country illegally. Cheney replied, "I have a better idea. Let's defeat Donald Trump tomorrow whether he likes it."
