There are plenty of empirical reasons to vote for Donald Trump to be president again. Here are four big ones: enlisting Elon Musk to address the national debt; putting Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. in charge of detoxifying our food supply; stopping the tsunami of illegal immigration, which is really a Democrat-supported invasion; and negotiating an end to the bloody Russia-Ukraine war. Dozens more could just as easily be added.

But today I’m going to put aside (somewhat) the logical Spock approach and emulate the visceral Dr. Leonard McCoy of Star Trek. Bones didn’t pull any punches in telling the three highest-ranking U.S.S. Enterprise officers (Spock, Captain James T. Kirk, and Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott) when they were wrong about something. Likewise, I will aim this at people who despise Trump for various reasons.

Confused Christians

Some people are quite conservative on most issues, but not this one. Their two biggest objections to Trump? POTUS 45 is against the “right to choose,” and is “pretending to be” a Christian when he’s clearly not one.

Yet, Trump named three conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court, which then overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, returning the matter to the states. But while some states have banned abortion, 36 still have not. And in fact, the number of abortions has increased since then, exceeding a million in 2023. Despite Kamala Harris’s false claims on the campaign trail, Trump has said he will NOT sign a national abortion ban (a power which POTUS lacks, in any event).

Beyond those details, why can’t one just call a spade a spade? That “right to choose” is in brutal reality the right to kill a human being in the womb. From 1973 to 2022, more than65 MILLION children were murdered that way. Yes, some people have daughters, and maybe the thought of them being raped or forced to have a baby in other unwanted circumstances influences even some believers to think the “right to choose” should be codified into state constitutions and federal law. But let’s just be honest about what abortion really is: a matter of life and death, every time, for an unborn baby. It’s not simply a lifestyle option.

As for DJT feigning and/or exploiting Christianity: He identifies as a nondenominational Christian and has thanked God often for sparing him from the two assassination attempts earlier this year. But he doesn’t go to church regularly.

However, neither did Abraham Lincoln, who was arguably one of our greatest presidents. Do tons of Christians, particularly Evangelical Protestants, love Donald Trump? Yes, they do. On the other side, plenty of liberal Christians and pastors back Kamala Harris. (As well as some non-Christian pagans.) Harris herself campaigns in churches, promoting “souls to the polls.” Why is that OK, but conservative Christians backing Trump is deemed to be “Nazism,” “fascism,” or some form of “Christian Nationalism” — all of which must be repudiated? Frankly, that makes no sense.

Old-School Democrats Who Think Their Party Still Stands for Something Noble

Other people belong to liberal denominations. They believe that Trump has low character and might well do horrible things if he gains power again.

I (sort of) get that. Some people are empathetic, old-school political liberals who happen to live in conservative state, but have never voted for a Republican president in their entire lives. Their views of Republicans seem to confuse reality with that of The Simpsons’ evil GOP Mayor Sideshow Bob.

But the modern Democrat party is NOT the party of their parents (nor of mine, for that matter; my dad was a union electrician). Here’s the biggest departure: Supporting the “transgender” delusion that you can change your sex and get surgery to that effect (as 50,000 deluded young people are doing every year), is something JFK, LBJ, or even poor Jimmy Carter would find sickening. (And don’t conflate this insanity with gay rights; those are two entirely separate issues.)

As for Trump’s alleged low moral character: This group didn’t seem to be bothered by President Bill Clinton, who literally and figuratively sullied the Oval Office itself — something of which Trump has never been accused.

Would The Donald be a dictator as POTUS 47? He had four years to cross that Rubicon and didn’t. Also, dictators and tyrants are not known for their understated foreign and military policy, nor for negotiating peace between warring enemies. But that’s what Trump did. We invaded no countries and launched no new wars in Trump’s first term. His administration also brokered four new peace deals between Israel and Muslim countries (United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan). How about giving DJT credit for doing that? Get past your personal dislike of the man’s character and look at the results.

Christian history shows us plainly that many times, God has used less-than-stellar men (and women) to achieve good results. This includes the political realm. Constantine is a great example. So is Henry VIII of England. And as far as old-school Democratic nobility is concerned, I don’t understand how anyone can vote for people who want to keep the 65 million abortions allowed under Roe. But that’s the Democrat position, per their platform:

President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats are committed to restoring the reproductive rights [sic] Trump ripped away. With a Democratic Congress, we will pass national legislation to make Roe the law of the land again.

Women

Still others believe a President Kamala Harris would be a good example for their young daughters. Have any of them actually looked into Harris’s bio?

Tulsi Gabbard, who is not only a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves but a former member of Congress, is a far better example for your daughters; since she achieved her positions via merit.

Harris also supports “transgender” males playing in girls’ sports. This may not mean much when your daughters are in elementary school. But trust me, once puberty hits, it will mean a lot to you. I have two sons that played football and wrestled in high school, and one that continues playing football in college. You do NOT want your girls on the competition field with the likes of them! But that’s what allowing “transgender people” in women’s sports literally means. Girls and women are not just being outpaced and defeated, but actually hurt by these males. Southpark crudely but truthfully pointed this out four years ago. People who think this is a good idea really need to wake up and smell the coffee of reality, not the useless, decaffeinated aroma of wokeness.

To use another Star Trek trope: Trump may be “swaggering” and “overbearing” but he’s never been, and won’t be, a “dictator.” As for any “delusions of godhood” — well, it’s Democrat politicians who often try to claim the messianic role (like Obama did), not Republicans like Trump. I’m a doctor (of history, not medicine), just trying to give you all some food for thought.

Or to paraphrase Dr. McCoy one last time to everyone saying they’ll vote for Harris: “Are you out of your liberal minds?!”
