Former President Donald Trump recently appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast, where he gave a lengthy interview on a wide range of topics. At one point in the interview, Trump highlighted how his youngest son, 18-year-old Barron Trump, has tremendously helped his campaign engage with a younger crowd through a variety of popular podcasts.

Trump has made various podcast appearances in the months leading up to the election.  Before his monumental appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” in Austin, Texas,  Rogan had sat down for interviews on several other podcasts hosted by figures such as Theo Von, Andrew Schulz, and the Nelk Boys, boosting his reach to younger audiences.

During the podcast with Rogan, he said, “So I have a son who’s very smart and tall Barron, right? And he knows all about you. He knows about guys I never heard of. He said, ‘Dad, you don’t know how big they are. They’re big.’ I said, ‘Who the hell is he? Like Ross?” Trump said, referencing his critically acclaimed podcast appearance with Adin Ross.

Highlighting the campaign opportunities on social media, Trump continued, “I mean, guys that are doing, it’s a whole new world out there. It’s a different world. And, you know, I’m on TikTok now. And I’ve done really well … Have you seen the numbers? Billions, like, billions of hits.” He added, “And I’ve done up 30 points. A Republican is always down 30 with young people. I’m plus 30 and I’m on Tiktok.”

Trump maintained that the surge in youth support for his campaign has been substantial.  “It’s had a huge impact.” Rogan weighed in, “I think young people are rejecting a lot of this woke bullsh*t. Young people are tired of being yelled at and scolded. They’re tired of these people that they think are mentally ill telling them what the moral standards of society should be today. And people are upset.”

The former president noted, “It’s a big there’s a big difference now, but even in just a couple of years, I was shaking hands with people. They’re young people.” Rogan pointed out that being conservative has now become counterculture. “The rebels are Republicans. Now they’re like, you want to be a rebel. You want to be punk rock. You want to like the system. You’re a conservative now you,” the podcaster said.

During another moment during the podcast, Trump even hinted at possibly removing federal income taxes for tariffs.  “Did you just float out the idea of getting rid of income taxes and replacing it with tariffs,” Rogan asked.  Trump replied, “Yeah, why not?”  He then cited America’s history with tariffs, stating, “Because we ready our country was the richest in the relatively in the 1880s and 1890s a president who was assassinated named McKinley. He was a tariff king. He spoke beautifully of terrorists. His language was really beautiful. We will not allow the enemy to come in and take our jobs and take our factories and take our workers and take our families, unless they pay a big price, and the big price is tariffs.”
