Holocaust Survivor: Kamala Owes Trump an Apology for Fascist Accusations

Indeed she does, and so do a lot of other Democrats claiming Trump to be the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler. Few people have the moral foundation to make that demand for an apology more than 94-year-old Jerry Wartski, a survivor of Auschwitz whose family got annihilated by Hitler and the Nazis in Poland.

Wartski emigrated to the US 75 years ago, and says Kamala Harris' closing attack in the presidential election is "the worst thing I've ever heard" as an American. And he wants an apology now, in this new Trump-Vance spot:

“I know more about Hitler than Kamala will ever know in a thousand lifetimes. For her to accuse President Trump of being like Hitler is the worst thing I've ever heard in my 75 years living in the United States… she owes my parents and everybody else who was murdered by Hitler an apology for repeating this lie.”

The only way one can consider the Democrats' final-stage freakout as legit is to know nothing about Nazis, fascism, or indeed collectivism of any kind. Otherwise, the proto-fascist accusation against Trump makes no sense at all. Fascists and socialists have in common a desire to centralize power, while Donald Trump keeps arguing for the dissolution of the bureaucratic state and the disbursement of authority to states. Federalism and fascism are contradictory philosophies with diametrically opposed approaches to power. That's why federalism protects freedom and fits so well within the American concepts of ordered liberty.

And, of course, the Harris freakout has a great deal of projection built into it as well. She and other Democrats are shrieking that Trump will use the power of the office to go after his political opponents, while blithely ignoring the fact that the Biden-Harris administration has spent the last two years doing exactly that against Trump. Not just Biden and Harris either, but also Democrats at the state level, such as Letitia James, and at the local level, such as Alvin Bragg and Fani Willis. And those lawfare efforts only began after it became clear that Trump planned to run for another term as president.

However, the despicable nature of these allegations go far beyond these calculations. The Nazis conducted wholesale genocide and slaughter on the basis of the ethnic determinism that drove their monstrous ideology, destroying generations of Jews as well as other ethnic minorities in eastern Europe. Hijacking that grotesque history to exploit its victims for the grubby political ambitions of a handful of progressive elites is an absolute travesty, and it should cling to Harris and every one of her supporters engaging in this poisonous attack strategy as an unending stink on their names until they pass from the scene.

Those are not the only reasons to push back against this "closing argument" from Harris et al. We have already had two assassination attempts on Trump in the past three months, thanks to the insane pitch of the media and political environment. Mitch McConnell and Mike Johnson demanded that Harris stop trying to fan those flames with this idiocy, lest it incites even more violence:

Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell asked Vice President Kamala Harris in a rare joint statement to tone down her rhetoric in the lead-up to Election Day, days after Harris said she considered Donald Trump a fascist.

The two top Republicans accused Harris of fanning “the flames beneath a boiling cauldron of political animus” and said her words in recent days “seem to dare it to boil over.”

“She must abandon the base and irresponsible rhetoric that endangers both American lives and institutions,” Johnson and McConnell said in their statement. “We call on the Vice President to take these threats seriously, stop escalating the threat environment, and help ensure President Trump has the necessary resources to be protected from those threats.”

If nothing else, perhaps some Democrats might reflect on their own interests in dialing down the demagoguery. Violence is unpredictable, after all, but more than that, the demagoguery isn't working. Democrats have called Republicans and especially GOP presidential candidates "fascists" and Hitler for 60 years now. How's that working out for Harris? Mark Halperin's focus group should offer a clue.
