CNN Hails Harris Hyping 'Tragedies Abortion Restrictions Have Led To'

If CNN can’t convince voters that Donald Trump is a fascist, they will try the next best thing and try to convince them that pro-lifers are going to kill women. On Friday, correspondent Eva McKend joined not one, not two, but three CNN morning shows to hype Kamala Harris’s upcoming rally in Texas, where the campaign will “illustrate the tragedies abortion restrictions have led to.”

During the 7:00 Eastern edition of CNN Newsroom, co-host John Berman asked, “Eva, what is in store today with the vice president going to a state where, let's be honest, she likely won't win?”

McKend replied, “Yeah, John, they're traveling to Texas because they described it as the epicenter of abortion bans. The event will feature a Texas couple who led a lawsuit against the state's abortion bans after suffering life-threatening pregnancy complications. Shanette Williams, the mother of Amber Nicole Thurman, who died in 2022 from a treatable infection due to delays getting reproductive care in Georgia, she's going to be in attendance as well.”

She added, “And listen, John, this is what we've been seeing from the Harris campaign. They're leaning on women to tell their own stories to illustrate some of the tragedies abortion restrictions have heeded.”

Georgia pro-lifers did not kill Thurman, unexplained medical malpractice did. Even ProPublica admitted that it is unknown why doctors waited so long to give her treatment; they just put in paragraph 60 after most people probably stopped reading.

Things weren’t much better during the 9:00 hour as Berman’s colleague and fellow co-host Kate Bolduan rehashed the same question and answers.

McKend’s final appearance of the morning came the next hour on CNN Newsroom where host Jim Acosta asked her, “What do we know about Kamala Harris's rally in Houston tonight? It's a big, deep red state, obviously, perhaps not in play for the vice president, but it is a message she wants to get across there with some big stars.”

For the third time, McKend exclaimed, “Jim, they're traveling to what they describe as the epicenter of abortion bans. The event will feature a Texas couple who led a lawsuit against the state's abortion bans after suffering life threatening pregnancy complications. Shanette Williams, she is the mother of Amber Nicole Thurman, who died in 2022 from a treatable infection due to delays to her medical care stemming from Georgia's abortion law. She will be in attendance as well.”

One more time, she also claimed, “The campaign thinks that this is a compelling argument. They are leaning on women to tell their own stories, to illustrate the tragedies abortion restrictions have led to, and then having some fun as well with the star-studded lineup of Texas natives, like Beyoncé and Willie Nelson, Jim.”

In her official bio, CNN makes clear they view McKend’s partisan spin as a positive and hypes her pestering Sen. Mitch McConnell about whether he could be an impartial juror during Trump’s first impeachment trial and on reparations.

Here are transcripts for the October 25 shows:

KATE BOLDUAN: Eva, what is, what are you hearing from the Harris campaign on the strategy heading to Texas today?

EVA MCKEND: Well, Kate, Texas a battleground, it is not, but they're traveling there because they described it as the epicenter of abortion bans. The event will feature a Texas couple, who led a lawsuit against the state's abortion bans after suffering life-threatening pregnancy complications. Shanette Williams, she is the mother of Amber Nicole Thurman, who died in 2022 from a treatable infection, due to delays in receiving reproductive care from Georgia's restrictive abortion law.

She will also be in attendance and that's what we have been seeing from the Harris campaign. They are elevating women to tell their own stories to illustrate some of the tragedies abortion restrictions have led to, and this all comes as Vice President Harris is aiming to show contrast with former president Donald Trump.
