On Wednesday, Louisiana Attorney General Elizabeth Murrill (R-La.) filed a lawsuit against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), claiming that the agency allowed a Chinese illegal alien to enter the country despite being infected by a “rare, aggressive, and drug-resistant” virus.
According to the Daily Caller, Murrill claims that multiple American citizens were exposed to “Patient Zero,” who is suffering from a rare form of tuberculosis with a high mortality rate and an unusually strong resistance to antibiotics.
In her statement on X, Attorney General Murrill said that she is “suing [Alejandro Mayorkas] and [DHS] after a Chinese national who illegally entered the United States was found in Louisiana with a rare, aggressive, & drug-resistant form of Tuberculosis, threatening the health & safety of the people of Louisiana & America.”
Murrill further accuses the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, of committing “dereliction of duty” by allowing this especially dangerous illegal to enter the country despite the clear health risks. She pointed to the Biden-Harris Administration’s support for open borders, which has resulted in over 8.5 million encounters with illegals at the southern border since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris first took power in early 2021.
“Millions of undocumented illegal aliens continue to pour across the southern border – unidentified, untracked, and untested for diseases that can threaten the lives of American citizens,” said Murrill in her statement. “The federal government has put the health and safety of Louisiana and American people at risk. Despite this dereliction of duty by President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Secretary Mayorkas, Louisiana officials acted immediately to protect our people.”
Murrill revealed that “Patient Zero,” a woman, didn’t even go through any health screenings after she flew into the ICE facility in Monroe, Louisiana, from San Diego, California. Thus, other passengers on the plane were exposed to her disease.
The illegal in question was finally tested on October 9th, returning a positive result for “pre-extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB).” This particular strain of tuberculosis has a mortality rate between 34% and 39%.
