ER Editor: Some completely colourless MSM reporting below via RTE. Some rapid and vehement Twitter response to the passing of AMENDMENTS to Ireland’s Criminal Justice Bill, which apparently seeks to deal with hate crimes involving … drumroll … GENDER. This is not new hate crime legislation per se.

Dáil Éireann translates as Assembly of Ireland and is the lower house and principal chamber of the Oireachtas or Irish legislature. Dáil has 160 members (source).

As far as we are aware, Sinn Fein has been a globalist party and should have voted for this legislation last night. But it curiously changed its position with no indication as to why (source):

Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín has accused Sinn Féin of “stealing my clothes” after Mary Lou McDonald’s party decided to oppose hate speech legislation. (Aontú is opposed to this legislation.)

The Hate Crime Bill passed in the Dáil just before 9pm on Wednesday, by 78 votes to 52, with no abstentions — a comfortable margin for the Government.

With the legislation passing through the house before the general election is called, Mr Tóibín took aim at his former party for their U-turn on the Hate Crime Bill.

Sinn Féin originally supported the Hate Crime Bill, including laws on hate speech, but changed its policy rapidly after the family and carers referendum.

‘Gender’ is an inserted and contentious item —

This tweet indicates the complexity of working out precisely the impacts of what has been voted, but certainly offences against certain ‘protected’ people will merit harsher punishments —

Enoch Burke will naturally be outraged, who got fired from his high school and subsequently jailed over the multiple genders ideology —

Press release by the Irish government:

Minister McEntee welcomes passing of hate crime legislation by Oireachtas

The Bill was voted through by a vote of 78 to 52
The Bill was voted through by a vote of 78 to 52
Last September, Justice Minister Helen McEntee confirmed she was not moving ahead with plans to introduce new hate speech laws but would press ahead with the hate crime element.
.
She said she was proceeding in this fashion because “the incitement to hatred element [of the bill] does not have a consensus.”
.
Tonight in the Dáil, she said Ireland was one of the last countries to introduce hate crime legislation.
.
She added that no other jurisdiction which had brought in such laws had defined hatred.
.
Minister McEntee was replying to Sinn Féin’s Matt Carthy who said that simple and clear definitions were required.
.
Some opposition politicians expressed total opposition to the revised Bill, including deputy Mattie McGrath who called it a half-baked vanity project.
.
It was also opposed by Independent Danny Healy Rae and Peader Tóibín of Aontú.
.
Labour TD Brendan Howlin said that the Minister had used powerful words regarding the protection of vulnerable people.
.
However, he said the protections she spoke of were not reflected in the amendments which were being debated.
.
Concluding, Minister McEntee said she “absolutely believes” that the Dáil will in the future have to consider introducing hate speech laws.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
