President Biden sparked concern on the internet following a meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this year to commemorate their Super Bowl victory.  When handed an official helmet from the team, Biden appeared to struggle with putting it on before walking over and speaking into a microphone that wasn’t turned on.

Throughout Biden’s presidency, many voters have been concerned about his age and seemingly diminished cognitive faculties.  There have been numerous public instances in which the president has demonstrated concerning behavior that has called into question his capacity to lead the nation and pursue a second term.  Users on social media reacted to the clip, voicing their concerns regarding Biden’s behavior.

“Biden struggles to put on a football helmet and then fumbles around like a five-year-old, trying to talk into a mic that isn’t on. The band then starts playing to cover for him,” one user wrote, sharing a clip of the incident.  “This is so cruel. He almost needs someone to step up and say enough is enough, stop putting this man through this. These are the last years of his life and these are the indignities they’re putting him through,” another person wrote.

Prior to Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential race over concerns about his mental and physical health, The American Tribune reported on comments from hedge fund billionaire Bill Ackman. Ackman expressed similar concerns that those around Biden were not looking out for his best interest. In a public statement posted to X, Ackman suggested that First Lady Jill Biden is to blame.

“I no longer blame @POTUS Biden for not stepping aside. He no longer has the mental acuity to make important judgments about himself. It is becoming increasingly clear however that the fault lies with
@FLOTUS Jill Biden. FL Jill Biden becomes irrelevant the moment her husband is no longer president. No more Air Force One. No more glamorous life. No more White House dinners for dignitaries. No more being treated like a queen when traveling the world,” Ackman wrote on the social media platform.

“I am sorry to be harsh, but what has become entirely clear is that the First Lady values what is best for herself over her husband’s health and the safety and security of the country at large,” he continued.  “Stress is a contributor to neurological deterioration and the doctors must have told her so. Think about how much stress she is putting Biden under by making him continue.”

Biden officially announced his withdrawal from the race in July.  “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this,” he initially shared to X.
