The Trump-Vance campaign has filed a formal complaint with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) accusing the Labour Party of the United Kingdom and the Harris-Walz campaign of making and accepting illegal foreign national contributions.

Dhillon Law Group filed the complaint Monday on behalf of the Trump campaign, alleging that the British Labour Party made illegal foreign campaign contributions and that the Harris-Walz campaign accepted them. The complaint cites evidence related to Sofia Patel, the Labour Party's head of operations, and her recent announcement on social media that the party's current and former staff members would be traveling to US swing states to campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris. At the time of writing the LinkedIn post that has since been deleted, Patel indicated that around 100 staff members had already committed to traveling to the US to knock on doors and promote the Democratic presidential nominee.

"When representatives of the British government previously sought to go door-to-door in America, it did not end well for them. This past week marked the 243 anniversary of the surrender of British forces at the Battle of Yorktown, a military victory that ensured that the United States would be politically independent of Great Britain. It appears that the Labour Party and the Harris for President campaign have forgotten the message," the complaint began.

The complaint cites multiple media reports regarding the matter, including a Telegraph article revealing Patel sent an email to staff members on Aug. 2 asking "if anyone would be able to travel to the US to help our friends across the pond elect their first female president." Patel said, "Let's show those Yanks how to win elections!" and stated that she would travel to the United States two weeks before the presidential election on November 5.

Additionally, the publication reported that "Democrat volunteers" would provide staff members housing. However, the complaint states that "the Labour Party appears to be using party resources, including paid staff time, to coordinate their travel."

According to FEC regulations, "a foreign national shall not direct, dictate, control, or directly or indirectly participate in the decision-making process of any person, such as a corporation, labor organization, political committee, or political organization with regard to such person's Federal or non-Federal election-related activities."
 

"Those searching for foreign interference in our elections need to look no further than Ms. Patel’s LinkedIn post. The interference is occurring in plain sight," the complaint concludes, adding that "Ms. Patel's posts and press reporting surrounding the relationship between the Harris campaign and the Labour Party create a reasonable inference that the Labour Party has made, and the Harris campaign has accepted, illegal foreign national contributions."
