Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. became the first father-son duo in the history of Major League Baseball, and the tandem will be on hand to see another father-son tag team potentially play in the same NBA game on Tuesday.

Ken Griffey Jr. confirmed in an interview on SiriusXM this week that he and his dad would be there to see LeBron James and Bronny James possibly play together for the Lakers when they face the Timberwolves in their season opener.

“I’m actually going to go to the game and I’m going to take my dad,” Griffey Jr. said. “First father and son to play baseball, now first father and son to play basketball, so it’s a big deal for my dad and I to be there. We made history, now we get to watch history.”

The Elder and younger James shared the court once during the preseason, but didn’t connect for an assist and it’s still a bit of a mystery over whether the two will even play together.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick told reporters that “nothing’s been finalized for anything yet,” according to ESPN.

Bronny James told the outlet that it would be a “crazy experience” to have the Griffeys in attendance for the game on Tuesday.

“It’s going to be insane,” Bronny James said. “Only two families to do it, so it’s going to be a crazy experience, especially with what they’ve done.”

Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. had been teammates in 1990 and 1991 when the pair played together on the Mariners.

The two played together for the first time in a 5-2 win against the Royals on Aug. 31, 1990, and the two famously hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning of a loss against the Angels on Sept. 14, 1990.

The Lakers are scheduled to tip off at 10 p.m. ET.
