Welcome back in for Al’s Afternoon Tea, our chance to dish on some of the latest headlines.

Trump Fries Up Some Publicity by Working at McDonalds

Real estate mogul, bestselling author, reality show star, president of the United States … fry cook at McDonald’s? What a resumé!

Yes, Donald Trump donned an apron Sunday, learned to cook French fries, and worked the drive-thru window at a McDonald’s in Feasterville, Pennsylvania over the weekend. “I like this job,” he was overheard saying. “I think I might come back and do it again!”

First he mastered the art of the French fry.

Then he worked the drive-thru window.

Trump cooked up the plan to work at McDonald’s to troll Kamala Harris for claiming she once worked at the fast-food chain. McDonald’s has no record of her having done so.

From his arrest mugshot to getting shot to serving fries, we can now add another iconic photo to Trump’s list of 2024 campaign classics.

The funny thing? Trump managed look like he could be the manager or franchise owner of a McDonald’s. We’re not sure how many billionaires could pull that off. Perhaps that’s one of the greatest differences between him and Harris: Trump is comfortable in his own skin regardless of the circumstance. Harris seems uncomfortable in her skin under pretty much every circumstance.

Trump Chastised for Crude Remark About Arnold Palmer

While paying tribute to legendary golfer Arnold Palmer in a rally over the weekend in Palmer’s Pennsylvania hometown, Trump told a story that referenced Palmer’s, um, let’s just say “male attributes.” Should he have said it? No.

But what’s been amazing is the way Kamala Harris’s campaign staff and media allies have been harping on the story. The election is only two weeks away, and that’s what they spend their time on?

Part of me thinks Trump brought the matter up knowing Harris and the media would bite. After all, the obvious response is, “Wait. You people are happy to have drag queens actually display their ‘male attributes’ to children, but you’re complaining about an off-the-cuff comment instead?”

Harris wants us law-abiding citizens to pay for criminal illegal immigrants to have their male parts removed while in prison so they can claim to be women, but this is a big deal?

We’re not excusing what Trump said — it was rather crude — but it is off-putting to see the media spending more time bemoaning an off-color story about a golfer who died in 2016 than they are the very serious allegations of plagiarism and other untruthful actions that surround Harris.

Speaking of which, remember how The New York Times brought in plagiarism expert Jonathan Bailey to say Harris’s plagiarism “wasn’t that bad”? That’s because the Times only gave Bailey five of the more innocuous examples from her book Smart on Crime to analyze — not the whole book. But Bailey has since had a chance to examine whole the book, and now concludes that Harris’s plagiarism is “more serious” than he initially thought. He’s particularly bothered by the wholesale lifting of material from Wikipedia. However, he blames that on “sloppy writing habits, not a malicious intent to defraud.”

So, apparently, Harris’s best defense against the plagiarism charge is “I’m lazy.”

Biden-Administration Leaks Intel on Israel’s Potential Response to Iran

Two U.S. intelligence documents from the Pentagon allegedly detailing potential Israeli airstrikes against Iran were leaked to a Telegram account associated with Iran over the weekend. Federal intelligence sources confirmed to the New York Post the documents are legit. According to Axios, the documents lay out munitions movements, training exercises, and how drones were to be used.

The Pentagon, intelligence community, and FBI are in a race to determine how the documents were leaked, and of course, by whom.

Also over the weekend, Iran tried to assassinate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a drone attack on his house. The attempt failed. Netanyahu called it a “grave mistake,” adding, “Anyone who tries to harm Israel’s citizens will pay a heavy price.”

Joe Who?

Joe Biden will not appear again with Kamala Harris on the campaign trail, NBC News is reporting. The question is, “Who is avoiding whom?” The news comes amid stories of heavy tension between the Harris and Biden camps, with Harris feeling the White House is deliberately undercutting her campaign and Biden’s people still smarting over the coup that pushed the Big Guy aside.

Two Inspirational Stories from the Gridiron

San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall made his NFL debut with the team Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

His appearance is little short of a miracle, coming merely seven weeks and one day after being  shot in the chest during an attempted robbery in San Francisco’s Union Square. Somehow the bullet missed all his organs. “I want to thank God for protecting my baby boy,” Pearsall’s mother, Erin, said at the time. “He is extremely lucky. God shielded him.”

After his first catch, San Francisco fans gave him a standing ovation.

Meanwhile, at halftime of the game between the Washington Commanders and Carolina Panthers, the Commanders retired the #28 jersey of Hall of Fame cornerback and devoted man of God Darrell Green.

Green talked with CBN about football and his faith in 2022.

“The thing that being a professional, all that stuff provides is a foolish thing in reality, cause we’re taking a game that’s a childhood game and because you can do it, you know, they call it pro and they pay you millions,” he said. “But we take these foolish things and we utilize them for God’s glory. I can take this foolishness, whether it’s mammon, resources, influence, access, whatever, and I can turn it for God’s glory. So I wanted to do it the best I could do it, the best, you know, at the highest level, get the most they would give, you know, but being faithful to the Lord — to be yoked into His purposes.”
