Andrew Cuomo is the lesser of two evils, freshman House member Marc Molinaro said about his current opponent.

The first-term Republican lawmaker said Democrat Josh Riley is running an even more dishonest and deceitful campaign for Congress than what he faced in his 2018 matchup with the disgraced ex-governor.

“On any given day, it’s Josh Riley, on any given day,” said Molinaro, when asked to compare his rivals during a meeting with The Post editorial board.

“I mean the worst that Andrew Cuomo could come up with is I was a mini Trump, which was hilarious at the time, but this is … entire dishonesty. It just is and I’ve truly never seen anything like it,” he added, pointing specifically to Riley’s claims he’d support a national abortion ban.

Molinaro, 49, maintains he does not support a national ban or any federal action for that matter.

“I said this two years ago, I would take no action to support a national ban,” Molinaro said in the same interview.

Molinaro beat Riley in 2022 with 50.8% of the vote — by roughly 4,500 votes.

“They’re running ads that say I’ll be the deciding vote on a national ban. I don’t know if they don’t know this, but the House is pretty much split 50-50. I already am the deciding vote and I’ve used it to consistently object to any infringement on New York state’s abortion access,” he continued.

Even so, Molinaro still described the ex-gov — who resigned in August 2021 amid a slew of scandals — as “horrible.”

“I could have been entirely horrible, you just wouldn’t have noticed it because [Cuomo] was more horrible,” Molinaro, Dutchess County executive at the time, said of his 2018 run for governor.

Cuomo, 66, whose believed to be mulling a political comeback, clobbered Molinaro in 2018, taking nearly 60% of the vote in a blue wave of support after President Trump’s win in 2016.

“Governor Cuomo ran on his record of getting marriage equality legalized, putting the strongest gun protections and paid family leave laws in the nation on the books and building projects previously declared impossible, such as the new LaGuardia and JFK airports, the Second Avenue subway and the Kosciuszko Bridge, all while cutting taxes and reining in spending and as a result got the most votes of any candidate in the history of New York,” Cuomo spokesperson Rich Azzopardi wrote in a statement to The Post. 

Meanwhile. a Riley spokesperson reiterated the candidate’s claim that Molinaro has “voted 13 times to restrict access to abortion.”

“These are just facts,” the rep said. “Marc Molinaro’s record speaks for itself,” a rep for Riley said in a statement to The Post. “These are just the facts.”

New York’s 19th Congressional District is rated by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report as a toss up.
