In a awesome campaign moment on Sunday, October 20, former president and 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump stopped by a McDonald’s restaurant in the key swing state of Pennsylvania and worked the fryer, handed food out of the drive-thru window, and otherwise saw how such a restaurant works. He also trolled Kamala Harris in very funny fashion.

As background, Harris has said that she worked at McDonald’s growing up. Speaking in 2019, as a Senator, she said, “I did the french fries and I did the ice cream. There was not a family relying on me to pay the rent, put food on table, and keep the bills paid by the end of the month – but the reality of McDonald’s is that a majority of the folks who are working there today are relying on that income to sustain a household and a family.”

Though conservatives have cast doubt on the story shared by Harris about her alleged time at McDonald’s and claimed McDonald’s has said that she didn’t work there, that isn’t true; McDonald’s has not announced in any sort of public communication that she didn’t work there, as USA Today reported. However, it did say that it has no record of her working, saying, “we and our franchisees don’t have records for all positions dating back to the early ’80s.”

However, the Washington Free Beacon, along with other outlets, have noted that Harris, despite saying she worked at the fryer, never mentioned the experience in her resume, on a job application, or in her memoirs. So, because of that, though McDonald’s hasn’t said anything about it, the comments about Kamala’s working there come back up.

Amongst those who bring it up is the former president, who brought it up after he donned the apron and worked at the fry cooker at the restaurant. Joking to people waiting outside the drive-thru window of the McDonald’s location, former President Trump quipped. “I’ve now worked 15 minutes more than Kamala. She never worked here.”

At a different point, he noted McDonald’s said that it has no record of her working there. He said, making that point, “We have checked with McDonald’s, and they say, definitively, that there is no record of Lyin’ Kamala Harris ever having worked there. In other words, she never worked there, and has lied about this ‘job’ for years,”

He then turned from her working record to the more grounded subject of ending taxes on tips, adding that the left would destroy franchise restaurants, saying, “Additionally, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden are killing franchises, want to end all franchises, which will destroy values and jobs. Also, remember, from me, No Tax On Tips!”

Trump said many other funny things while doing a short stint at the chain and testing out the different jobs. For example, at one point, he joked, when asked what he likes on the menu by someone ordering, “I like it all. I like every ounce of it. Everything! But I do like the french fries, where I’ll be working.”

Similarly, at another point, the former president was asked about raising the minimum wage based on his experience at the restaurant. He didn’t answer the question, but did comment on the employees and process, saying, “Well I think this. These people work hard. They’re great. And I just saw something… a process that’s beautiful.”

And, trolling her over her birthday and the McDonald’s story, he said, “It’s Kamala’s Birthday? She’s 60 years old? Yes, I would say, ‘Happy Birthday, Kamala.'” He continued, “She’s turning 60? I think I’ll get her some flowers. Maybe I’ll get her some fries… give her some McDonald’s fries. Happy Birthday, Kamala. Happy Birthday.”
