The group "Survivors for Kamala," which describes itself as "a coalition of survivors of sexual abuse and gender violence and survivor-led organizations," has taken out a full-page advertisement in the New York Times calling 2024 GOP presidential candidate an "abuser," citing the ruling in E. Jean Carroll’s defamation suit against the former president.

"Dear Americans. We are survivors of sexual violence, advocates, and allies. And with voting already underway in the 2024 election, we come together to remind you that Donald J. Trump was found liable for sexual abuse in a court of law. He is a proven abuser. This is not a matter of opinion; it is fact," the ad stated.

In May 2023, a New York jury found Trump "liable" of battery but "not liable" of rape in the civil case brought forth by columnist Carroll alleging that Trump had raped her in a Manhattan department store in the mid-1990s. The jury in Carroll’s 2023 case awarded the columnist $5 million. In a separate defamation case brought forth by Carroll, Trump was ordered to pay $83 million.

The group continued, "A second Trump term would pose multiple dangers to our democracy—not least of which is the dangerous daily message it would send, through his presence and his policies, that sexual or gender-based violence of any kind is normal, unavoidable, and something the American people should accept."

The group said they "will not accept that." They "demand better, and believe that in this election, Vice President Kamala Harris is the right—and only—choice for president. She will be an ally and partner in the ongoing work to end gender-based violence."

"We encourage you to join us, for the sake of the survivors in your own life—those whose stories you know, and those you may not. With respect, Survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, and allies, from across the political spectrum."

Over 200 people signed the letter, among with were actress Octavia Spencer, former US Rep Jackie Speier, former New York State Senator Alessandra Biaggi, former US Rep Katie Hill, and Anita Hill, who in the 1990s accused Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment.

In a press release, Survivors for Kamala said the ad "is a direct indictment of Trump and a show of political unity among progressives, liberals and Republicans, all of whom denounce the former president's record of sexual violence."

The group will be holding a Zoom call Monday evening, in which speakers will include "Ashley Judd, Tarana Burke, and many more—including people who worked for the former president." Survivors for Kamala's website states that it is in partnership with "Survivors in Action, Survivors 4 Harris, National Women's Law Center Action Fund, Care in Action, Survivor Justice Action, and more."

The ad was paid for by the Oakland Corps PAC. Listed on the Oakland Corps website are other groups such as White Dudes for Harris, Dogs for Harris, Jews for Harris, Republicans for Harris, and other organizations.
