On May 28, 2024, the White House announced that Israel has not crossed any red lines thus far in its campaign against Gaza. This announcement came at a time when an airstrike caused a major fire that skilled scores of Palestinians in Rafah.

Israeli tanks were first spotted entering central Rafah for the first time on May 28. On May 29, the US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby informed reporters during a press briefing that the U.S. was not overlooking Israel’s operations in the southern Gaza city.

He stated that the Biden regime did not believe Israel’s actions in Rafah constitute a “major ground operation” that would violate President Joe Biden’s warnings and propel a change in American policy, which includes rumored threats to stop arms shipments.

“A major ground operation is, you know, thousands and thousands of troops moving in a maneuvered, concentrated, coordinated way against a variety of targets on the ground,” he stated.

Biden said to CNN earlier in May: “I made it clear that if they go into Rafah — they haven’t gone in Rafah yet — if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities — that deal with that problem.”

Kirby’s remarks came several days after the Israeli airstrike caused the fire that blazed through the tent camp in Rafah’s Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, which resulted in the deaths of at least 45 individuals including children, per local health officials’ estimates.

In a briefing held on May 28, Israel Defense Forces spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari announced that the Israeli regime was still investigating the Rafah strike, even what generated the fire that he stated “resulted in this tragic loss of life.”

He claimed that the IDF fired two 17 kilogram (37.5 pound) warheads targeting two senior Hamas commanders.  However, he added that the fire was “unexpected and unintended” and happened out of nowhere.

He hinted at the possibility that weapons stored in the area targeted by the Israelis might have sparked the fire, but stated that was an “assumption” at this juncture. An Israeli official and American official separately informed NBC News it was possible a fuel tank was hit, which sparked the fire.

Since Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, the IDF has carried out a punitive military campaign against Gaza, in which close to 40,000 Palestinians have perished in this conflict. Hamas’ attacks have allegedly claimed the lives of 1,200 Israelis. 

The Biden regime is merely playing politics here. It will signal its disappointment with Israel’s controversial political actions, but continue to give the greenlight to Israel’s harsh military actions. 

This is beyond pathetic and just shows how Zionist-controlled both political parties are. 

A non-interventionist, America First approach would do wonders in bringing about stability and preventing the US from getting insured in another conflict that does not advance its national interests.
