Florida’s government under Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) announced Thursday it is suing the Biden–Harris administration over its alleged refusal to remove illegal immigrants placed on the state’s voter rolls.
“This shows the lengths that the federal government will go to frustrate states’ efforts to protect our people and enforce our laws in the face of this crushing wave of illegal immigrants being pushed into our country by this administration,” Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody said on Fox News’s Fox and Friends First.
States have tried to place barriers between legal voters and the illegal immigration crisis, but the federal government under the administration has fought them in the courts, according to Moody.
“As Virginia and Alabama have had to strip their voter rolls to try and remove those who are not citizens, DOJ, Biden-Harris, have sued them,” she said. “Now, Florida, in attempting to get information, which by the way DHS is required to maintain and work with us to let us know who are noncitizens, they are playing games with that information.”
The Florida government refuses to play these games and filed suit against the administration to demand the information so the state’s elections can be honest and secure, the attorney general said.
“It’s just so important to remember that this is not about their policies that have stripped down any protections and built up new programs to bring more and more people here,” Moody said. “This is about, now, them aggressively fighting us and frustrating our efforts to protect our own people.”
“In the face of overwhelming obstruction by Biden-Harris and DHS and Mayorkas, we’ll keep doing our job and pressing forward on behalf the American people,” she said.
Moody called on every voter across the country to be prepared to encourage their officials to follow the lead of Florida.

“If this administration continues to obstruct the state’s right to get that information, that citizenship status, from the federal government, they should do everything in their power to fight back, and that includes aggressive suits like Florida has done in this one,” Florida’s attorney general said.
The lawsuit against the administration was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida-Pensacola Division.
