On Friday, US District Judge Tanya Chutkan unsealed the appendix of exhibits and evidence in the January 6 case against Trump brought forth by special counsel Jack Smith.
The majority of the nearly 2,000 pages released remained under seal or redaction, with MSNBC reporting that Smith had asked the court to redact and seal information that has not been made public, specifically the contents of grand jury testimony and witness interviews.
The unsealed information in Appendix Volume I are interviews and depositions of witnesses by the House Select Committee To Investigate The January 6th Attack on the US Capitol. Appendix Volume II includes a number of 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump's social media posts and reposts as well as data from Twitter, now known as X, that authenticates the tweets.
Appendix Volume III includes a number of excerpts from former Vice President Mike Pence’s book, the transcription of Trump's speech at the Ellipse on January 6, 2021, and numerous reports from state officials and lawmakers regarding reports of fraud in the 2020 election. Appendix Volume IV includes a transcript of Trump’s May 2023 town hall with CNN, fundraising emails from the 2020 Trump campaign, and funders of the Save America March.
