On Wednesday, the Biden-Harris Administration announced yet another aid package for Ukraine, this time to the tune of approximately $425 million.

According to the Washington Examiner, the aid was announced following another call between Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The package includes air defense capabilities, air-to-ground munitions, and armored vehicles, among other supplies.

This amount is on top of the roughly $59 billion total that has been given to Ukraine by the United States since their war with Russia first began in February of 2022.

“President Zelensky updated President Biden on his plan to achieve victory over Russia, and the two leaders tasked their teams to engage in further consultations on next steps,” said the White House statement. “The leaders committed to intensify security assistance planning alongside international partners in order to ensure that Ukraine has the equipment it needs to prevail.”

In his own statement, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the U.S. is committed to “supporting Ukraine with the equipment it needs to strengthen its position on the battlefield, defend its territory and people from the Kremlin’s brutal aggression, and secure a just and lasting peace.”

In a statement on Telegram, Zelensky thanked Biden for the new aid package, saying that Biden had  “offered to consider the possibility of developing joint production of weapons.” He added that he and Biden had also “discussed the importance of additional training for Ukrainian soldiers.”

The new aid package came shortly after Zelensky announced a new “Victory Plan” to supposedly end the war. His speech to the Ukrainian parliament outlined five key points, including defense, security, European integration, and economic development, all for the purpose of not only ending the current war but avoiding another war in the future. A cornerstone of this plan is Ukrainian membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly called a red line that he does not want to ever see crossed.
