On Sunday, former U.S. President Bill Clinton shockingly admitted that the open border approach of the Biden-Harris Administration directly contributed to the murder of a 22-year-old nursing student in Georgia.

Fox News reports that Clinton made his remarks during a campaign event for Vice President Kamala Harris in an attempt to attack Republicans, only for the online response to overwhelmingly consider it an indirect attack on his own party.

“You had a case in Georgia not very long ago, didn’t you?” Clinton asked the audience in Columbus, Georgia. “They made an ad about it, a young woman who had been killed by an immigrant. Yeah, well, if they’d all been properly vetted that probably wouldn’t have happened.”

Laken Riley was a nursing student attending the University of Georgia in Athens. While she was out for a morning run on February 22nd, 2024, she was attacked and murdered by Jose Antonio Ibarra, a Venezuelan illegal who had been encountered by immigration authorities in the past. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents had apprehended him on September 8th, 2022, after he crossed illegally near El Paso, Texas, but ultimately “paroled and released [him] for further processing.”

Clinton attempted to spin this story in Harris’ favor, claiming that “she’s the only candidate who has actually endorsed a bill that would hold down immigration any given year to a certain point and then made sure we gave people a decent place to live, didn’t divide people from their children. And we did total vetting before people got in.”

“Now, Trump killed the bill,” Clinton then falsely stated. The bill was opposed early on by most in the Republican Party due to failing to actually implement measures to secure the border; among other provisions, the bill in question still would have allowed as many as 8,000 illegal aliens to come across the border on a daily basis before an emergency could be declared.

Clinton also bizarrely suggested that immigrants are necessary to combat the declining birth rate in the United States, saying that “America isn’t having enough babies to keep our populations up, so we need immigrants that have been vetted to do work – there wouldn’t be a problem.”

In another false statement, Clinton claimed that fFor the last three years, the Biden-Harris administration has done increasingly tough things, trying to control the border. And illegal crossings have gone down every year for three years. Our friends in the other party don’t want to talk about that.” In fact, illegal alien crossings over the border have increased almost exponentially since Biden and Harris first took office.

Immigration remains a top issue for most voters, often tying for first place alongside the economy. On both issues, voters overwhelmingly trust former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party over Harris and the Democratic Party.
