On Saturday, a man was arrested in California after he attempted to bring several firearms into former President Donald Trump’s rally in Coachella.

As Fox News reports, a press conference was held on Sunday by Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, who announced that the suspect was 49-year-old Vem Miller, who resides in Las Vegas. Miller was arrested when he was found to be in possession of a handgun, a shotgun, and a high-capacity magazine.

Miller approached the rally’s outside perimeter at about 5:00 PM PST, arriving in a black SUV and presenting what appeared to be VIP credentials. When the credentials turned out to be fake, Miller was arrested.

“What we do know is he showed up with multiple passports with different names. An unregistered vehicle with a fake license plate and loaded firearms,” said Sheriff Bianco. “If you’re asking me right now, I probably did have deputies that prevented the third assassination attempt.”

Bianco further revealed that the fake license plate “was what we in law enforcement would recognize as one that is homemade and indicative of a group of individuals that claimed to be ‘sovereign citizens.'”

“I knew this was going to happen. I couldn’t care less what political party he belongs to,” Bianco continued. “I honestly, I think that’s the stupidest thing in the world that we have to label something, and we’re labeling this as politics. He was a lunatic. He was.”

The “Sovereign Citizens Movement” is a radical anarchist group that considers themselves outside the jurisdiction of the federal government and therefore exempt from American laws.

“If, in fact, it turns out that he is part of the Sovereign Citizens Group, they are certainly considered a far-right group,” Bianco explained. “I wouldn’t, from my own personal belief, I wouldn’t say it’s a militant group. It’s just a group that doesn’t believe in government and government control. They don’t believe that the government and laws apply to them. So I think it’s fringe one way or the other.”

Miller was arrested without incident, and was booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center on the charges of possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine.

In an interview on Sunday, Miller tried to claim that he supports President Trump, saying that he was “shocked” at being arrested.

“These accusations are complete bullsh**,” said Miller. “I’m an artist, I’m the last person that would cause any violence and harm to anybody.”

The Trump campaign issued a statement thanking law enforcement for their swift actions that day.

“We thank law enforcement for securing the rally site and helping ensure the safety of President Trump,” the statement read. “We are aware of news reports about the arrest and are currently monitoring the situation and gathering more information.”
