Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday publicized a letter summarizing her medical history after former President Donald Trump did the same in 2023.

Ms. Harris’ doctor, Army physician Joshua Simmons, detailed her most recent physical examination from April and said the 59-year-old maintains a healthy and active lifestyle.

The Harris-Walz campaign views the letter as an opportunity to draw more attention to the physical health and mental acuity of Mr. Trump, 78. If elected to a second term, he would be the oldest serving president in the history of the office by the end of his term.

Mr. Trump posted a letter from his doctor, Bruce Aronwald, on Truth Social last November. The physician wrote that the former president was in “excellent health” and that he lost some weight because of a better diet and daily physical activity, but didn’t delve into the same level of detail as Mr. Simmons’ letter.

Mr. Trump hasn’t released an update.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement that Mr. Trump has released records, including updates from Rep. Ronny Jackson, Texas Republican, who was his White House physician and treated the gunshot wound to his ear after the first assassination attempt in July.

“All have concluded he is in perfect and excellent health to be commander in chief. He has maintained an extremely busy and active campaign schedule unlike any other in political history,” Mr. Cheung said. “Whereas Kamala Harris has been unable to keep up with the demands of campaigning and reveals on a daily basis she is wholly unqualified to be president of the United States.

“Her schedule is much lighter because, it is said, she does not have the stamina of President Trump. Polls are reflective of this.”

Mr. Simmons, who has been the vice president’s doctor for the past 3 1/2 years, wrote in the letter that Ms. Harris’ most recent physical exam was “unremarkable” and detailed her medical history, which included seasonal allergies, hives and nearsightedness.

As a result of her allergies, Ms. Harris has been on allergen immunotherapy for the past three years, which has improved the symptoms of her allergies and hives “dramatically,” the letter noted. She also wears contact lenses.

Mr. Simmons noted that her family has a maternal history of colon cancer and that the vice president is up to date on preventative care, including annual mammograms and a colonoscopy. Her only surgery came when she was 3 years old to remove her appendix.
