A video shared on Instagram claims the Harris-Walz campaign hired actors for a campaign ad to pretend to be former Republicans who are now voting for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Verdict: False

This claim is not accurate. Sky News, which initially reported on the claim, issued a correction.

Fact Check:

Harris referred to Iran as America’s biggest foreign adversary in an interview on Monday evening and cited their ballistic missile attack on Israel as reason for concern, according to Fox News. She also noted that she believes the country should never have access to nuclear power and that making sure of it is her “highest priorities,” but did not comment if she would send the military to do so, the outlet reported.

An Instagram video appears to show a Sky News broadcast reporting that a couple recently featured in a Harris campaign ad were paid actors and were not sharing their genuine stories.

“(The Harris-Walz campaign) released a political ad that claims to depict two former Trump voters who live in Pennsylvania and who have switched to Team Kamala after the horrors of January 6, but this pair of farmers shown in the ad appear to in fact be two actors Robert Lange and Christina Chadwick,” a reporter says in part, going on to claim that the couple has a history of donating to Democrats

This claim is inaccurate. While it is true that the video is a genuine Sky News broadcast, the outlet issued a correction on Oct. 1, while the Instagram post showing the revoked broadcast wasn’t shared until the next day. “During a discussion about a Kamala Harris campaign video on the program on 26 September, the people featured in the campaign ad were described as actors with a history of donating to the Democrats,” it reads. “In light of additional information which we have been made aware of, we correct the record that the people involved are not actors and do not appear to be Democrat donors.”

Bob Lange voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 and his wife voted for Trump in 2016, but did not vote at all in 2020, according to local Philadelphia news outlet WPVI-TV. “The claims that we’re Democrats, that we’re paid actors and that we have contributed to Democratic campaigns are all lies,” Kristina Lange told USA Today.
