Kamala Harris’ interview blitz: Letters to the Editor — Oct. 10, 2024

The Issue: The vice president’s late-campaign flurry of softball interviews on podcasts and TV.

In her recent “60 Minutes” interview with Bill Whitaker, Vice President Kamala Harris refused to own the Biden administration’s failure to secure our southern border, a massive failure that has led to the current immigration crises (“Harris’ Blatant Blather,” Editorial, Oct. 9).

The border policy and virtually every other policy set forth by President Biden and Harris has left the country in shambles — and now she seeks to become commander in chief.

If elected, she would finish the job of destroying the country and put the world at risk of breaking into a third world war.

There has never been a more urgent need for true leadership in this country, and Harris is clearly not the person for the job.

I hope voters recognize the existential threat we face and elect someone who can correct the course we’re on.

Not sure which Americans were watching this interview — but Harris sounded poor.

The word salads are ever more common, giving us the impression that she has absolutely no understanding of what is going on.

It’s astounding the amount of free passes Harris gets on blatant gaffes, and the press continues to shower her with phony praise.

The so-called “Trump Derangement Syndrome” is beginning to wane, as many people have come to recognize that Trump — as self-absorbed as he his — is definitely a better choice than Harris.

All the voters who choose Democrats no matter what must have enjoyed Harris’ sitdown with podcaster Alex Cooper (“Who Is Harris Trying To Reach?” Editorial, Oct. 8).

Some of the “serious topics” discussed previously on the podcast include how to perform oral sex.
VP Harris is now on the softball circuit, with interviews that include over-the-hill Howard Stern, Trump-hater Stephen Colbert and (of course) the biased show The View.

With less than a month remaining until the election, I’m sure all those “forever Democrats” are chomping at the bit for fellatio tips and a giggle-fest.

The Harris campaign’s choice to have the candidate talk with sex podcasters and comedians is a misguided strategy that undermines the gravity of her position.

She’s not vying for popularity in a high-school election — she’s running to be a global leader.

If she wants to be taken seriously, she should demonstrate competence and articulate well-reasoned positions, not resort to trivial banter.

It’s disappointing to see a candidate diminish the role by opting for frivolity over substance.

Rich Codey, Manhattan

I’ve never been a Howard Stern fan, but his crying over Harris being gently mocked by SNL was truly hilarious (“Kama booey!” Oct. 9).

This guy built a career — and a fortune — on mocking, berating and humiliating people.

That fortune would of course protect him from the disasters that a Harris administration would impose on the rest of us.

David Perez, Brooklyn

Unfortunately, most registered voters pay little attention to what either candidate says on television.

As long as the media continue to be mostly biased against Republicans, and as long as Democrats continue to spend millions (I see ads blasting Trump every day and night on many TV stations), it seems now that the only chance Trump has to win is if enough voters hold their noses and vote for him anyway.

If Harris wins the White House, we’re all in trouble.
