President Joe Biden told reporters on Tuesday that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is "doing a great job" on hurricane response in Florida just a day after Vice President Kamala Harris accused the Florida governor of "playing political games" over calls with her.
"The Governor of Florida has been cooperative. He’s said he’s gotten all that he needs. I talked to him again yesterday. I said 'I know you’re doing a great job,'" Biden told reporters on Tuesday.
Biden then said that he gave DeSantis his personal phone number in order to get in contact with him if there is anything else that they need in Florida. This comes on the heels of Harris claiming just yesterday that DeSantis was playing "political games" as the crisis is ongoing by ignoring a phone call from her during the hurricane response.
She added at the time, "People are in desperate need of support right now and playing political games with this moment, in these crisis situations, these are the height of emergency situations, it's utterly irresponsible, and it is selfish."
Biden had participated in a call with DeSantis on Monday with Tampa Mayor Jane Castor in order to discuss hurricane preparation for Hurricane Milton, per the Florida's Voice, a Category 5 storm that is headed straight for the Sunshine State.
"For Kamala Harris to try to say that my sole focus on the people of Florida is somehow selfish, is delusional,” DeSantis said in response. "She has no role in this. In fact, she’s been vice president for three and a half years. I’ve dealt with a number of storms under this administration. She has never contributed anything to any of these efforts, and so what I think is selfish, trying to blunder into this."
