When Kamala Harris went on "The View" as part of her media blitz this week, she told the hosts she couldn't think of doing anything differently than President Joe Biden did in his tenure.
"Would you have done something differently than President Biden during the past four years?" Sunny Hostin asked Harris.
Harris responded, "There is not a thing that comes to mind," adding, "I've been a part of most of the decisions that have had impact."
The comment from Harris may prove to be unhelpful to her campaign message due the Biden’s declining favorability rating over the course of his presidency. Many have thought that Harris was taking the tact of moving more to the center on issues such as illegal immigration and government spending, but the comment appearing to endorse everything Biden has done as president would suggest that she is not set to change the status quo.
Recently, Biden made comments suggesting similar conclusions, saying that Harris was delegated "responsibility on everything from foreign policy to domestic policy."
Appearing on "The View" at the time as well, Biden added, "I just think she is — she has the energy, she has the intelligence, she has the grit, she has the stamina, and she has the guts to do the right thing."
The comments from Biden and Harris on the show paint a contrast to what Democratic operatives close to the Harris campaign have said in the past. Harris has reportedly tried to break away from Biden due to "horrible" polling numbers.
The remark from Harris comes on the heels of a New York Post report from last week that said Biden has been complaining privately that Harris does not mention him more in speeches. He was particularly angry when Harris told Trump in their debate, “Clearly, I am not Joe Biden,” Harris said when Trump accused that “she is Biden” on policy decisions, per the outlet.
“And I am certainly not Donald Trump. And what I do offer is a new generation of leadership for our country," she added at the time.
