Fans of the "Call Her Daddy" podcast have blasted show host Alex Cooper for having Vice President Kamala Harris on the oftentimes X-rated show. Harris said in the discussion that she wanted to go on the podcast because it talks about "things people really care about" as Americans were searching for bodies of victims from Hurricane Helene last Tuesday.
Fans of the podcast had a few words to say about the podcast getting political, including that it felt like "propaganda" coming from Alex Cooper's show. The Instagram comments section was flooded with angry comments from fans, with some saying they would never listen to it again.
"I’m so disappointed, this feels like propaganda and trying to make her look ‘gen z,'” commented one social media user. Another fan said, “Oh nooo why did we have to get THIS political. listening to your podcasts was a nice escape from everything we hear about politics daily."
There were a number of fans who commented that they were "done" with the show. “DONE, this was my fav podcast. I’m 100% disgusted,” one user from the "Daddy Gang" commented. Another had similar feelings, “One of my most favorite podcasts and now I’ll never listen again. unbelievable."
During the course of the discussion, Harris told Cooper, “I think you and your listeners have really got this thing right, which is one of the best ways to communicate with people is to be real, you know, and to talk about the things that people really care about." But many critics, including the fans of the show, said that they did not touch on pressing issues at all. When it was recorded last Tuesday, Hurricane Helene had left North Carolina in shambles.
“Ask her about what she’s doing to help hurricane victims instead of talking in circles about women’s rights,” one fan said, critical of Cooper's line of questions, that were seen as softballs.
“Wait what about the abuse and crime caused by the illegal immigrants flooding the country,” commented another.
Throughout the interview, Harris spoke about policies to curtail domestic violence as well as sexual crimes, yet did not address the serious accusations from anonymous sources against her husband Doug Emhoff about being abusive to a previous girlfriend.
