Buckle-up!  We’re diving in deep to examine a modern-day scourge.  And I have the perfect example currently playing out.  I’m sure you’ve heard the term “woke mind virus” over the last few years.  Even before Elon Musk took the phrase to viral heights back in July, it was being used for years to describe the horrible nature of Progressive “Wokeism”.

I’m about to show you what it looks like in action.  I hereby present to you a classic case of the “woke mind virus” in all it’s inglorious cringe-worthy… eh- definitely not “magnificence”.  But, you get the point.

This is the current self-avowed Progressive (read as “WOKE”) mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson.  Brandon is racist — let’s just get that straight from the outset.  But more than that, Brandon is also very, very determined to:

  1. Gain power.
  2. Use his power to promote progressive ideologies, regardless of reality.

Here’s our first video clip from earlier today.  And then we’ll dive into the context, and how we got to this point:

So here’s our background story.  In a nutshell, Brandon (remember… he is both suffering from, and attempting to spread the “woke mind virus” wherever he goes, and in everything he does) — Brandon has become the mayor of Chicago.  But before that, Brandon was a part-time teacher in the Chicago Public School system, and a paid activist for CTU (Chicago Teacher’s Union).

Now, you might be asking yourself (I know I asked myself), how does someone go from being a part-time teacher and a community activist… to being the mayor of one of America’s largest cities?

And the answer to that is where the “woke mind virus” comes into play: Corruption!  And you now have the city mayor throwing his weight around, completely disregarding any pushback to his failed policies (oh, yes – even worse than his predecessor… the legendary Lightfoot), and openly using all the authority he does wield to pay back his largest campaign donor any way he can – allegedly, of course.

Johnson, a former Chicago Teachers Union organizer, has been pushing to remove the district’s CEO, Pedro Martinez, who was appointed by former Mayor Lori Lightfoot in 2021. The two have clashed, particularly over strategies to address the nearly $10 billion budget shortfall. Despite Johnson’s efforts, Martinez has refused to step down, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability within the district.

What Brandon has been trying to accomplish is the adoption of a $300 million dollar high-interest loan to fund the contract demands of the Chicago Teachers Union — you know… his prior employer as a Teacher’s Union Organizer?  Which happens also to have been his largest campaign donor to the tune of millions.  Corruption?  Allegedly.  Here’s more from our Newsweek story:

In a surprising turn, all seven school board members announced on Friday they would resign at the end of the month. The move comes during the tenure of a mayor who has emphasized his commitment to education and equity in the largely low-income district. The departing members, appointed by Johnson in 2023 just months after he took office, have not commented on their decision to step down.

Here’s the kicker to that part of our story:  these were Brandon’s hand-picked school board members who resigned!  They haven’t commented on the exact reasoning for their unified resignation… but my hunch is they either got pushed out by Brandon so he could railroad his corrupt campaign payback deal through, or they simply got tired of Brandon pressuring them to fire the CPS CEO Martinez, and his Progressive style of leadership.  You know… being a tyrant, and all.  Allegedly.

And that brings us back to our opening racist, strawman, and all-together unhinged statement by Brandon: that fiscal responsibility is akin to slavery.  And don’t miss this part, because that is exactly what he said.  And I’m about to use it to show exactly how the “woke mind virus” works.

Alright, history lesson.  The fact is… financial concern REALLY WAS one of the arguments back in the day used to prop up the pro-slavery argument.  It was a valid point.  (Stick with me here – I’m not racist, and I’m not about to make some twisted racist argument.)  It was completely WRONG from a moral standpoint; no argument based in economics should ever carry any weight when it comes to the question of slavery.  But… it was a factually true argument, dating all the way back to the founding of the nation.  Unfortunately, slavery had been allowed to integrate (pun intended) itself into the financial system of the United States, and to do away with slavery would therefore come at a big financial cost.

But that’s not what Brandon said.  Brandon… said that FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY (aka: opposition to his desire to borrow against the future to the tune of $300 million in order to fund the contract demands of the Chicago Teacher’s Union, his former employer)… is akin to slavery.

And that’s a bunch of racist, “woke mind virus”, hogwash.  And the only reason I used the word “hogwash” is because I don’t cuss.  Much.  At least not in my articles, in public.

Do you see what happened there?  This is a clear case of what the “woke mind virus” of Progressivism does.

  1. Every criticism or argument against you is racist.
  2. Your own racism and agenda creates an “ends justify the means” protocol.
  3. Logic, reason, and facts become merely things to bend to your will.
  4. You claim “JUSTICE” as your highest ideal, yet every and any injustice is warranted.

So that brings us to today’s press conference, where Brandon unveiled his seven NEW appointments to the school board — who will undoubtedly (allegedly) do all that he wills them to do.  (As opposed to being elected to the position, and acting in keeping with their own conscience and volition.)

I want to quote a short excerpt from the local Chicago news station, WGN 9:

A defiant Mayor Brandon Johnson asserted his power over Chicago’s public school system on Monday, appointing six of his allies to the Board of Education to complete what he calls a ‘transformation of CPS.’

As the battle over CPS’s future escalates, council members and activists voiced their concerns about the plan. Under the law, Johnson maintains complete control over city schools. On Monday, he seemingly wanted everyone to know it.

The power struggle comes after Johnson named six new CPS board members roughly 72 hours after the current Board resigned.

The members stepped down after they failed to act on the mayor’s demand that they fire CPS CEO Pedro Martinez and take out a high-interest loan to cover budget expenses.

“What this Board is prepared and willing to do is whatever is necessary to fix the structural damage that others created while also building a pathway forward,” Johnson said Monday.

The new Board is set to take over in the middle of Chicago Teachers Union contract negotiations and presumably carry out Johnson’s orders. A former CTU activist whose campaign was bankrolled by the union, the mayor dodged repeated questions about how the appointment of allies may appear to the public.  (emphasis added.)

The impropriety of that situation is mindboggling.  Glance back over that excerpt, just letting the emphasized BOLD parts stand out to you.

This shouldn’t happen.  There is a reason people are required to recuse themselves within the legal arena, or are in some cases legally required to disassociate themselves from certain financial markets or dealings because of a conflict of interest.

The problem is… the “woke mind virus” doesn’t see a problem with those situations.  It sees OPPORTUNITY.  Where you or I might clearly see impropriety and corruption, the person suffering from the “woke mind virus” only sees a pragmatic doorway to execute their agenda — principles be damned.  (Just broke my own principle.  Hope I’m not infected!!!)

Now, this is something.  This post is from Progress IL  (Progress Illinois).  As in… PROGRESSIVE.  This is an organization that is so progressively focused it has it in it’s name!  And even THEY are done with the level of Brandon’s woke-ness!

Next up in our look at “woke mind virus” run amok… I give you William Kelly of Chicago, son of two CPS school teachers, and reporter.  Here’s the full statement he posted on X.com earlier, followed by a news clip with Fox Business earlier today:

Breaking: Mayor Brandon Johnson has just announced his “new” school board appointees after the entire CPS board resigned on Friday—likely under pressure. This new board, which will be under Johnson’s total control, is set to rubber stamp his and his CTU pals’ costly agenda, and it reeks of anti-democratic maneuvering.

Expect them to fire the current head of CPS, who opposes Johnson’s reckless high-interest loan for a shiny new CTU contract, non-teacher pensions, and 300 unnecessary union positions. The CTU claims it’ll cost a staggering $10 billion to run our schools—into the ground.

As the son of two CPS teachers, I’m outraged. Johnson claims it’s about black and brown kids, but it’s really about his CTU pals.

41 members of the City Council finally got some backbone —including some of Johnson’s allies—to demand a hearing before the appointments are established. Remember, in May, the CTU, which funneled millions into Johnson’s campaign, demanded $50 billion to turn schools into migrant shelters and kick police out. The stakes are high!

This is what it looks like when the “woke mind virus” is unleashed on an organization, a city, or a nation.  Wholesale corruption, the complete disregard for facts and principles… except as tools to twist to your will, and everyone loses — except those few elites at the top who get to call the shots without recourse or oversight.

It’s not pretty.  It’s as cringe as cringe gets.  It’s evil.  It’s insidious.  And it is counter to everything Godly, good, wholesome, and RIGHT.  And that is exactly why it must be defeated — in our Churches, in our communities, and in our nation.

Because if we don’t overcome it in the marketplace of ideas and the ballot box… the options narrow quickly to something terrible and horrific.  Will we push this evil source of corruption back in one election?  No.  But it’ll be a darn good step in the right direction.  A step that may not come as easily if we fail to take it while we can.
