In a shocking confession, Jon Bon Jovi admitted to Madhouse News, that Guitarist Johnny Ramone of The Ramones, once beat him and his father up at the same time.
“It happened in 1975” said Bon Jovi, “I was 13 and was visiting my cousin Claude in Queens, NY. I would often spend summers there. At the time, I was a slight boy, small and weak. I often wore short shorts and I had a poofy hair do. I wasn’t always the tough badass that I am now. Did you see my Superman tattoo? So anyway, boys would often taunt me and bully me. I was frightened.”
Tiger Beat
Jon continued, “I was riding my bicycle to the corner store to get my usual copy of Tiger Beat magazine. I believe Donny Osmond was on the cover. There was a big feature on the DeFranco Family too. God I loved Tiger Beat. I was more of a fan of teeny bopper stuff. Led Zeppelin frightened me. Anyway, this big mean guy in a leather jacket confronted me. He called me a sissy, gave me an atomic wedgie and took my bike. I ran home and got my father.”
Jon, his father and cousin Claude returned to the scene of the crime, intent on revenge. They made the mistake of confronting Johnny Ramone. “Hey you, you little punk” yelled the elder Bon Jovi. “Give my boy back his bike.” Johnny replied “You talking to me?” At this point, Claude, Jon and his father stepped to Johnny.
Queens Blvd
Bon Jovi continued his story through tears and sobbing, “Johnny Ramone beat us up and down Queens Boulevard. He made me hold his coat while he beat my Dad using cousin Claude as a weapon. Then he took turns knocking our heads together like coconuts. He threatened to rape me. I still have PTSD from the event, and that is why I make the music I do. Hold me.”
