A major Washington-based labor union is reportedly sending election mailers to non-U.S. citizen migrant workers in Missouri, urging them to vote for Harris-Walz.

The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) flier reads: “Stop the Steal by stopping Trump’s allies. Vote for Harris-Walz and pro-worker candidates.”

A St. Louis area landscaping business alerted Fox2 Now that they’d received eleven such mailers, specifically addressed to their noncitizen migrant workers.

The company’s manager told us their migrant worker employees, who are from Mexico, are all background checked and have legal H2B visas, which allow their temporary stay in the states. The manager explained the migrant workers are also allowed to have union representation – and that they pay dues to the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) – but the manager cannot understand why the union would send mailers to non-U.S. citizens encouraging their vote in the presidential election.

Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft told Fox2 that the mailers show why proof of citizenship laws are urgently needed.

“You can register online without any proof of citizenship. You can register without even and ID,” Ashcroft said. “Now, we have implemented in Missouri a requirement that no one is allowed to get a ballot, even if they’re registered, unless they have proven their identity at least once; so that is an extra check we have.”

If a non-U.S. citizen votes in a U.S. election,  it’s a local election violation, as well as a federal offense.

“For somebody who did it accidentally who was trying to become a citizen, it would preclude them from becoming a U.S. citizen,” the secretary told Fox2.

Ashcroft said the Secretary of State’s Office will be monitoring the situation, and noted that some non-citizens have stepped forward to blow the whistle themselves.

“They’ve been automatically registered even when they didn’t want to be and I applaud those individuals for coming forward and saying, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa; I love America, but I want to follow the law,” he said.

Fox2 reported that it tried repeatedly to get an explanation from LiUNA, calling and emailing the union’s communications department seven times, but did not hear back. The Missouri Democrat Party wrote FOX 2: “LiUNA is the international organization of construction craft laborers, with more than 500,000 members across the country. All unions routinely send information and mail to their members on various issues, and some of those issues may not apply to them.”

LiUNA is considered a member of the so-called “Shadow Party,” a nationwide network of non-profit activist groups whose agendas are ideologically to the left and who actively campaign for the Democrats.

The Shadow Party was conceived and organized principally by George Soros, Hillary Clinton and Harold McEwan Ickes – all identified with the Democratic Party left.

In its mix of more than five-dozen unions, activist groups and think tanks, the Shadow Party has built a mighty coalition, marrying the youthful energy of the MTV generation with the ideological fervor of New Left activists who cut their political teeth in the battles of the 1960s with the ruthless tactics and financial power of New Labor, whose flagship unions – the SEIU and the AFSCME – have managed to thrive while other unions shrink, through the ingenious expedient of organizing workers in the fastest-growing sector of the U.S. economy: the government workforce. Many of the political strategists and operatives spearheading this government union movement are veterans of the New Left themselves.

The union endorsed Kamala Harris for president on July 25, 2024.

While he was a Minnesota Congressman, Democrat vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz participated in a “Fight Back for Good Jobs” rally sponsored by LiUNA at the 2011 Netroots Nation conference.

On August 6, General President of LIUNA Brent Booker celebrated Kamala Harris’ selection of Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate in a statement:

“The first crucial decision a presidential candidate must make is the selection of a running mate,” Booker said. “By choosing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris shows she has the judgement and the values our nation wants from its leaders. LIUNA proudly and loudly applauds Vice President Harris’ choice.”
