Vladimir Putin travelled to Mongolia to consult shamans about “unleashing nuclear weapons” Russian sources have claimed.
The Russian despot has been said to have “special attitude to mysticism” over the years, with reports about him “bathing in the blood of a Siberian red deer to “enhance his virility” emerging in 2018.
But during his visit to Mongolia in early September this year, mad Vlad is said to stepped it up a notch, asking permission from the country’s spirits about nukes usage, just in case he “angered their spirits” by doing so, the Mail+ reports.

Founder of banned opposition channel TV Dozhd Mikhail Zygar claimed Putin was keen on “pagan traditions”.
Writing on German news website Der Spiegel, Zyar said: “‘Mongolia and Tuva are considered the home of the most powerful shamans in the world.
“Vladimir Putin has long been known for his special attitude towards mysticism. And he apparently combines his interest in Orthodox mysticism with pagan traditions.”
Mongolia is a member of the International Criminal Court, an organisation which has issued an arrest warrant for the Russian leader last year following his deportation of Ukrainian children.
The hosting country’s officials failed to detain him, saying their dependence on Russia was too great for them to act on the warrant. Zygar claimed Putin’s wish to consult the spirits was worth risking arrest for.
In response to the opposition figure’s recent claims, the Kremlin’s response was: “The mentioned circumstances related to the Russian President's visit to Mongolia in September 2024 have no connection to reality.”
This isn’t the first time Putin has gone spiritual - he is said to have consulted mystics before his invasion of Ukraine in 2012.
Last year Russian state media reported Russia’s “supreme shaman” Kara-ool Dopchun-ool had asked 'the sun, the moon and the stars' to look out for the Kremlin’s troops in Ukraine, all at Putin’s request.
