At one point during the 2024 vice presidential debate hosted on Tuesday, October 1, between Vance and Walz, Senator and 2024 Trump running mate JD Vance had to fact-check the fact-checkers and call out co-moderator Margaret Brennan. That incident came when she, against the rules of the debate, fact-checked him over a claim about Haitians. Megyn Kelly obliterated the network both on video and on X after the incident.

CBS had announced before the debate that moderators would not fact-check claims during the debate. Instead, the network said it would utilize live fact-checking on its website. However, the debate, Brennan interrupted Vance anywar, snapping, “Just to clarify for our viewers, Springfield, Ohio does have a large number of Haitian migrants who have legal status, temporary protected status.”

Sen. Vance then fired back at Brennan and said, “The rules were that you guys weren’t going to fact-check. And since you are fact-checking me, I think it’s important to say what’s actually going on.” Sen. Vance then described the actual legal process for obtaining the legal status Brennan described, connecting it to a Harris-backed immigration policy.

Brennan talked over him and snidely said, “Senator, we have so much we have to get to, thank you so much for explaining the legal process.” Then, the network cut off Sen. Vance’s microphone, and Brennan, as he tried to explain his position, said, “The audience can’t hear you because your mics are cut.”

The incident infuriated Megyn Kelly who wrote, on X, “F you CBS – how DARE YOU.” She then went on to add. further sounding off on CBS for how it handled the situation and was handling the debate generally, saying, “Tried to fact check. JD put you in your place. You WONT HIM FIGHT YOU AND YOU WONT LET THEM DEBATE.”

Kelly didn’t just sound off on X. She also obliterated CBS on her Sirius XM radio show and podcast, “The Megyn Kelly Show,” saying, “I am dripping contempt, dripping contempt out of my pores for CBS News in that month that was such a dereliction on so many levels. Hello, you morons, a debate is unfolding.”

She continued, “Alert note to anchor and CBS producers, the debate is happening right here. You let it fire up. Let them go.” She then added, describing the interruption as a big issue, “We talked about this a million times before we prepared for our debate back in December, when you have fire on the stage, let it play out. This is a real issue”

She then added that the debate moderators did a terrible job of asking about the right things, saying, “This is a huge issue, and it’s voters number one or number two issue in virtually every poll, you didn’t have a lot more to get to.” And, adding to that, she said that Vance did a great job fighting on the climate change matter, saying, “There was a lot of inanity in that debate, including your next question, which was about climate change and good for JD Vance for fighting on it.” Watch Kelly here:
