Over the weekend, the official Trump campaign Twitter page responded to a recent “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) sketch on social media. The sketch was about the July 13th attempt on the life of former President Donald Trump.

It was a sketch in which 35-year-old actor James Austin Johnson played Donald Trump making fun of the former president at one of his meetings by bringing up the July 13th murder attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“Where the hell are all of these people going? Where are you going?” Johnson said in the sketch, sporting his Trump outfit, hair, and makeup. “I can see you trying to leave, but our doors are closing. Come back, it’s fun here. Sometimes someone does the “bing, bong, bing” right at me, which we love. That did happen because of what the extreme left said, right? People tell me that saying the Democrats are to blame for violence is like saying the kettle is black.”

The sketch’s “pot calling the kettle black” line confused many conservatives on social media, since no conservative has tried to kill Democrat President Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, but two liberals have come close to killing Trump.

“You do know that one man was killed and two others were badly hurt, right? But go ahead with your sad little show,” one X user replied to the skit.

During a recent episode of “Weekend Update,” liberal SNL cast member Colin Jost also said some strong things about the attempt on Trump’s life on the show.

“Talking about that, Melania Trump did a rare interview this week in which she said that Democrats were to blame for the circumstances that led to Trump’s attempted murder, which is ridiculous. Some Democrats think that the Trump shooter was a Republican. This could be a reference to how the party threw Joe Biden out during his reelection campaign, or even to the killing of John F. Kennedy in 1963.”

Lorne Michaels, the creator and director of Saturday Night Live, told reporters for New York Magazine that Republicans usually have a better sense of humor than Democrats. This latest Trump skit comes after that interview.

A while ago, Lorne Michaels told New York Magazine, “Republicans are easier for us than Democrats.” He also said, “Republicans find it funny, while Democrats tend to take it personally.”
