Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance recently defended his wife, Usha, against attacks against her Indian ethnicity.  During an interview with CBS’s Face the Nation, the Ohio senator doubled down, defending his wife and disavowing political commentator Nick Fuentes, who criticized Vance’s wife for being Indian.

Host Margaret Brennan asked Vance, “In your own movement. That’s what I want to ask about, because one of the supremacists who was saying things like this about your family, Nick Fuentes, an avowed anti Semite, went after your wife, he had previously died at Mar a Lago with Donald Trump. Does this have any room in your movement, in the MAGA movement?”

“Of course, it doesn’t have any room in the MAGA movement. And of course,” Vance replied, before Brennan interrupted, “You disavow him?”  Vance continued, “And of course Donald Trump has criticized this person. Look, I think the guy is a total loser. Certainly I disavow him. But if you ask me, What I care more about, is it a person attacking me personally, or is a government policy that discriminates based on race, that’s what I really worry about.”

Emphasizing his focus on government policy over personal attacks, Vance continued that is concern “is bad government policy that harms people based on their immutable characteristics. Look, a lot of losers are going to attack me and attack my family.”  He added, “I think the proper response to them is to ignore them. Don’t feed the trolls, and they largely go away.”

For context, Fuentes previously criticized Vance, claiming that he “doesn’t value his racial identity or his heritage.”  He said, “What kind of man marries somebody named Usha?” adding, “JD Vance also has an Indian wife and a kid named Vivek.”  He further claimed, “All his kids have Indian names, so it’s like, what exactly are we getting here?”

Vance further defended his wife, telling conservative commentator Megyn Kelly, “Look, I love my wife so much. I love her because she’s who she is.”  Acknowledging the attacks against him and his wife, Vance emphasized his love for Usha Obviously, she’s not a white person, and we’ve been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that. But I just, I love Usha.”

“J.D. Vance called conservative commentator Nick Fuentes a “total loser” for making remarks about his Indian wife, Usha. Vance emphasized that Trump, who previously dined with Fuentes, has also criticized him. Fuentes had questioned Vance’s support for “white identity” due to his marriage. Vance disavowed Fuentes and stressed the importance of focusing on key campaign issues. He believes the best response to such attacks is to ignore them,” conservative commentator Mario Nawfal wrote on X.
