Users on social media have raised concerns about footage of Biden earlier this year refusing to take questions from reporters. Throughout his administration, Americans have criticized President Biden for his seemingly limited engagement with the press. Some have speculated that Biden’s team has intentionally prevented him from taking unauthorized questions from reporters.

Footage of the incident spread around social media in early March, showing the president telling reporters, “I better not start the questions. I’ll get in trouble.”  In an apparent display of Biden’s declining cognitive state, he stared blankly at the reporters while glancing around the room, leading to substantial concerns about the president’s health.

Users on social media reacted to the clip, pointing out the implications of Biden’s state of health.  As this was months before the president withdrew from the 2024 presidential race, many expressed concern about the viability of Biden finishing his current term, let alone serving a second if he were to be reelected later this year.

“This needs to be shown on every news station in the country. Reality needs to set in. This guy is incapable of running a press conference, let alone the USA! This must stop. His handlers are doing a huge disservice, and lying, to the entire country, and world!” one person wrote, stressing that there needed to be fair coverage of the president when many felt that the media was disingenuously propping Biden up.

Others expressed concern about Biden  claiming he would get “in trouble” if he started talking to the press in an open and unscripted manner.  “In a free and open democracy, it’s vitally important to ensure that the figurehead of state is carefully controlled to prevent him from saying anything not approved by the powers behind the throne,” one user sarcastically wrote.  “When it comes to an elderly president, democracy depends on this,” they added.

Expressing concern that the sitting president of the United States is not allowed to speak to the press without permission, another person similarly wrote, “Isn’t he the president? Who would he get in trouble with? His handlers? He’s supposed to be working for the AMERICAN PEOPLE, not some shady, hidden in the background puppet master. Getting really tired of this.”  “I’m sorry if a President says he will get into trouble I think it’s time for him to resign cause it clearly shows he is not running the show,” another said.

“They all protect him, especially the media… It is a shame what this country has come to in 3 short years,” one person said, insinuating that the mainstream media and Biden’s handlers prop him up.  “We’ll see. I’ve been assuming the Dems won’t pull him until primary season is over because they don’t want primary voters to have any say in picking or rejecting the replacement candidate,” another user speculated as this was prior to Biden dropping out of the race.
