The son of the man who is accused of trying to assassinate former President Donald Trump in Florida has been arrested by federal authorities on child porn charges.

The FBI discovered hundreds of files that contained child porn when they searched the residence of Oran Routh, son of Ryan Routh, on Saturday.

ABC News reported that the search was “in connection with an investigation unrelated to child exploitation” and that the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Carolina confirmed the raid was connected to his father.

The illicit material was discovered on two cellphones located at the property, including one on Routh and another found in a bedroom.

“A review of the SD card located in Device-1 revealed that it contained hundreds of child pornography files,” prosecutors said in court documents. “These files include videos from a known child pornography series created outside the state of North Carolina.”

The criminal complaint stated that the illicit material contained girls as young as 6 years old.

He was charged with receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography and is expected to be arraigned in federal court on Tuesday.

Following his father’s alleged assassination attempt on the Republican presidential nominee at Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach last Sunday, Oran Routh said in an interview that “every reasonable person” hates Trump.

“If my father wants to be a martyr to how broken and disassociated the process has become from the real problems and practical solutions, then that’s his choice,” he added. “I’m not saying that’s what he’s done or what he’s about, that’s just my own rant being fed up with it all for my entire adult life.”
