A creator on TikTok slammed the use of her video that was aired during Oprah Winfrey’s town hall with Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she’s made it clear she’s not voting for Ms. Harris.
The creator, whose TikTok username is Blaire_Allison, posted a video Saturday mocking the way Ms. Harris speaks, while objecting to how her video was used on the show.
“So I got my four seconds of fame on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and of all people to be her guest, let me show you who it was,” she says in the video.
The video then shows a clip from the interview that aired Thursday with Ms. Harris. On the program, various people are shown talking about the cost of living, including the creator’s video from November 2023.
“I don’t understand how people are affording life right now,” she says in the clip that was aired on the pro-Harris town hall show.
“To my Americans: Let me make something perfectly clear, OK? I do not support Harris for president,” the woman said in the new video, while taking a tone that was intended to mock Ms. Harris. “OK? I want to be unburdened by who has been in the White House the last three and a half years. OK? As I stand here today, on this stage, standing on this stage today, the day after yesterday, I just want you to know, OK, how I stand and how I stand today is that I do not support Harris for president.”
In another TikTok, she clarified that she was not contacted about the use of her clip.
“I had no clue that clip would be shared while she [Ms. Winfrey] interviewed Kamala Harris,” she wrote in the video. “I have made it very clear I do not support Kamala Harris, at all.”
“I wish there were rules in place where national television shows must be granted permission before using a creator’s content. At the least, they should notify the creator before airing it on National TV.”
Ms. Harris sat with Ms. Winfrey for a “virtual rally” Thursday called “Unite for America,” where they talked about the cost of living, reproductive rights, and the border among other topics. A list of star-studded celebrities participated.
