I have always been impressed by the Left's commitment to "norms" and "civility." 

Honestly, I couldn't agree more that the world would be a better place if we could all discuss things rationally, examine unspun evidence, and assumed the goodwill of others. So kudos to all those norm-warriors. 

So I was impressed by the UK leftists who condemned the attack on Nigel Farage yesterday, in which a deranged Leftist (but I repeat myself) threw a milkshake at Nigel Farage. 

Oh, wait, that didn't happen. They all jumped up and cheered and hoped that it happened more often. 

I suspect that the social media idiot at Jet2, a low-cost airline in the UK got a talking to, but the company tweeted out its approval of the attack. 

That's what you get when you hire the woke, isn't it?

You got all the excuses about how, in this one case against such a very bad man, it was a damn good thing to go after him. Like Trump, Farage inspires derangement in his detractors. 

Hatred of your political opponents seems to excuse almost anything these days, and it certainly isn't only leftists who engage in bad behavior. 

But as we saw with the Trump trial, generally speaking, conservatives don't tend to riot, go on rampages, throw tantrums, throw milkshakes, occupy spaces, glue themselves to paintings, or any similar antics. That's why January 6th was such a shock to people. Such tactics are the province of the Left. 

What did conservatives do when Trump was convicted? Did they throw things and break stuff? Throw Molotov Cocktails into police cars? Riot?

No, we contributed to Trump's campaign for president. 

The Left has a political violence fetish, and while throwing a milkshake is hardly an assassination attempt, it is also hardly "debate." It is intended to intimidate, shock, ridicule, and anger people.

Of course, no blonde bimbo with a banana milkshake is going to deter Nigel Farage, and he responded in good humor, undercutting her intended result. But as Farage told ITV, it is scary to have people run up and throw things at you, especially given that in Britain, there have been acid attacks.

Anybody who downplays the intimidation attempts is being disingenuous. In these situations, a milkshake is not just a milkshake. It is a warning to people that they are vulnerable--that "we can get to you." And everybody knows that this is true. 

As I have said before, I prefer my politics to be more genteel than they are, but I also understand that politics ain't beanbag. 

Throwing verbal punches is one thing, though, and throwing things is something else entirely. Here in the US, Antifa uses "milkshakes" made with cement, as Andy Ngo can tell you, and it isn't something to laugh at.

And if you do, look in the mirror and ask how you turned into a thug.
