Trump concerned for his family's safety after assassination attempts

Former President Donald Trump said in an interview that aired Saturday that he is not only worried about the safety of his family after facing down two assassination attempts but also concerned about the safety of “everybody” in an America that is overrun with illegal immigrants.

Trump made the comments in an interview with Fox News host Brian Kilmeade and noted by The Daily Wire,  less than one week after the Sept. 15 attempted assassination in West Palm Beach and just over two months after he was shot in the ear while speaking before a rally in Butler, PA. When asked if he worries about his family’s safety given the dangers he and his campaign for president have encountered, Trump said, “I do. I do. I don’t talk about it, but I do. I have to worry about family. I have to worry about everybody. I worry about you.”

Trump said that the influx of illegal immigrants into the US over almost four years of the Biden-Harris administration has made life more dangerous for every American. “Look, we’re under siege and no country has ever suffered like we have for the last three-and-a-half, almost four years,” Trump said. “When they allow millions of people to come into our country, from prisons, right? From prisons. And terrorists, and people from mental institutions, and they take over our parks. Look at New York – you can’t play Little League baseball anymore.”

Trump also spoke of the upcoming vice presidential debate between Republican candidate Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) and Democratic candidate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN). The former president does not believe that his running mate will be treated fairly by CBS News moderators Margaret Brennan and Norah O’Donnell. “He won’t get a fair shot. But he will handle it very good,” Trump said. “I think he’s done great. People are really liking him. He’s tough, smart, he loves our country. He’s going to have no trouble.”

Since the presidential debate between Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris the evidence has grown and the public has increasingly realized that the ABC moderators in that contest were biased against Trump.

Even as a multitude of questions linger about the July 13 Butler rally assassination attempt, Trump was again the target of would-be assassin Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old Democratic activist who was accused of attempting to assassinate the former president with an AK-style firearm. Routh had been camping out on the perimeter of the West Palm Beach golf course for 12 hours ahead of time but went unnoticed by the USSS, who did not bother to conduct a search of the area.

Like the analysis in the aftermath of the first attempt, criticism of the United States Secret Service (USSS) continues to mount. Acting USSS Director Ronald Rowe went to West Palm Beach after Routh’s arrest, only to admit that the USSS had not bothered to search the perimeter of the golf course because a golf game was not on Trump’s “official schedule.”
