Donald Trump announced at his North Carolina rally on Saturday that if he is elected, he plans on launching a mission to reach Mars before the end of his term. This comes as he has made other commitments to begin prepping military assets in space.
Trump told the audience at the rally of his plan for the second term to reach Mars, "Elon, get those rocket ships going because we want to reach Mars before the end of my term!"
Trump has announced other projects relating to using military force in space after he launched Space Force in his first term. He has planned to create a National Guard for Space Force and has increasingly spoken about securing the nation in space.
Last month, Trump announced, "Now that Space Force is up and running, I agree with your leadership that the time has come to create a Space National Guard as the primary combat reserve of the US Space Force." He added at the time that Space Force was one of the achievements he was most proud of in his first term.
During the rally, Trump also addressed the large issue of illegal immigration. Border security as well as immigration has been a top concern for Americans along with the economy under the Biden-Harris administration, two topics polls indicate are winning issues for the GOP nominee.
In addition to the promise to launch a mission to Mars in his second term if elected, Trump also vowed to end sanctuary cities as well.
