House Democrats’ campaign arm again outraised their Republican counterparts in August, posting a near $13 million gap in the waning weeks of the election. 

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Friday announced that it had raised $22.3 million last month, nearly $5 million more than the month prior. The organization touted the increase as the most ever raised by the DCCC during a presidential election cycle. 

The organization has so far raised $250.6 million throughout this election cycle.

Part of the money raised in August comes from an increase in online donations during the Democratic National Convention — Democrats raised $1.7 million during the spectacle in Chicago, which the organization noted was a 71% increase in online donations over the previous week and four times as many new online donors than in weeks past. 

Rep. Susan DelBene, the chair of the DCCC, said in a statement that voters continue to support Democrats because House Republicans are barrelling “us towards a harmful government shutdown, remain blindly loyal to Donald Trump, and lie about their extreme, anti-abortion records.”

“There is incredible enthusiasm for Democrats across the country right now, and thanks to the work of Leader [Hakeem] Jeffries and the entire House Democratic caucus we continue to have the resources we need to harness that energy, go on offense, and to take back the House,” Ms. DelBene, Washington Democrat, said. 

Meanwhile, the fundraising momentum that the National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee had following former President Donald Trump’s conviction in his business fraud trial has slowed for another month. 

The NRCC brought in $9.7 million last month, about $2 million less than in July, which puts the total raised by the GOP during this election cycle at just over $183 million, according to Federal Election Commission records. 

Democrats have $87.3 million on hand during the home stretch of this election cycle, while Republicans have $70.7 million.
