In 2020, women voted for Joe Biden over President Trump by a percentage margin of 55-44. This “sex gap” was even greater in the 2018 midterms, where women supported Democrats over Republicans 59-40. So it’s not surprising that this campaign season the Democrats are, as always, trying to marshal female support. They do this by claiming that while their GOP opponents are “anti-woman,” they are pros at being pro-woman. (Even if they can’t define what one is.) But this is pure projection, says one commentator.

In fact, observes Jack Hellner, “Democrats don’t support women and girls.” (The Republicans do. More on that later.)

They sure want everyone to think they do, though, is his point.

Democrats are so desperate to frighten women into supporting them, in fact, that they sometimes even assert that the GOP wants to outlaw contraception and in vitro fertilization. (Of course, no such proposal exists — anywhere.) But their main claim to female-defender fame is abortion, points out Hellner.

As to this, Kamala Harris touted her prenatal infanticide credentials in the presidential debate. And the standard Democratic line is that “Republicans want to control women’s bodies.”

The Reality

Of course, the actual reality of “prenatal infanticide” is that there’s good reason why it can be thus characterized. That is, as even pro-abortion commentator Bill Maher has conceded, it’s “murder.” (Nonetheless, he says he’s “okay with it.”) But the political reality, points out Hellner, is that Trump’s position perfectly aligns with popular sentiment. It is Harris who’s out of touch with mainstream America.

(Note: I’m adamantly pro-life and must emphasize that popular sentiment doesn’t determine Truth. What follows will simply be an analysis of the candidates’ abortion positions relative to the American consensus.)

While far from perfect, Trump’s position is that abortion should be limited to about 14 weeks into a pregnancy. Hellner points out that this is the populist position: It’s “essentially reflected in most of the world’s laws,” he writes. Moreover, Trump does not support a national abortion ban. In fact, the whole idea behind overturning Roe v. Wade was to return prenatal infanticide to the states — in accordance with the precedent of most of American history.

Trump’s position also aligns closely with that of a plurality of our citizenry. As to this, Hellner cites a YouGov survey showing that “53% of Americans would support a national law outlawing abortion after 16 weeks of pregnancy, with exceptions in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the woman.”

The Radical

In contrast, Hellner points out, the Democrats want prenatal infanticide on demand, at any stage of pregnancy. (This puts them in league with China and North Korea.) Harris, however, at least implicitly denied this during the presidential debate. And the moderators abetted her pretense at “moderation,” claiming that no state allowed late-term abortion.

But Harris’ own running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, knows better. As even a KARE 11 (mainstream media) fact-check reveals, a law he signed last year “does not include any specific prohibitions on abortions at any stage of pregnancy.”

Hellner also reminds us that the Democrats don’t even want parents to know if their underage daughter procures an abortion. Furthermore, they oppose the Born Alive Act. This means they accept the practice of denying medical care to babies born alive during failed abortions. Just let the children die, is the Democratic position.

Yet one more point should be made in light of the “Republicans want to control women’s bodies” claim. For argument’s sake, let’s accept Harris’ current assertion that she supports the Roe limits (20 weeks). Well, then following the Democrats’ logic, she also wants “to control women’s bodies.

The argument, in other words, only concerns where to draw the line.

(Real answer: at conception.)

Speaking of lines, though, what about the line that Democrats defend women?

The Real White Knights?

Of course, do note that about 50 percent of aborted babies are little women. That aside, however, what does the big picture reveal about which major party actually defends women’s rights? Hellner examines this, writing:

Trump believes women should have the choice on what kind of insurance policy they buy, and which doctor they use. Democrats believe the government should dictate what everyone buys!

Trump believes women should have the freedom of choice on whether they want to get a vaccine or not. Democrats believe women should be forced into vaccination against their will, or get fired.

… Trump believes women should be able to buy the vehicles and appliances they want; Democrats want to take away that freedom of choice.

Trump believes poor mothers should be able to choose what schools their children attend; Democrats don’t care, no matter how bad the results are.

Trump believes women have freedom of speech. Democrats believe that women who dare challenge school boards about the destruction caused to their children by the progressive agenda, should be threatened by the Justice Department.

… Trump can define what a woman is; Democrats say they can’t, while also claiming they are the party of science.

Trump believes women and girls shouldn’t have to compete against men in sports; Democrats believe women should shut up and play along with a mentally disturbed man’s delusions.

Trump believes women and girls have the right to privacy in their locker rooms and restrooms; Democrats believe they shouldn’t complain if men are in their space exposing [themselves].

Trump wants to secure the border; Democrats don’t seem to care how many women and girls are killed, raped, trafficked, or die from drug overdoses, as they continue to wreak havoc on the U.S with their porous border.

In the final analysis, though, there aren’t mainly “men’s issues” and “women’s issues”; there are American issues. Policies that affect everyone, affect women; policies that hurt everyone, hurt women.

Given this, someone could ask of the modern Democratic Party: With “friends” like them, why would women need enemies?
