Famed Italian jockey Frankie Dettori suffered a dislocated right shoulder after being unseated Thursday in the starting gate at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens.

Dettori posted a hospital selfie early Friday morning announcing he’s doing OK after the scary incident.

“I appreciate all the messages. I’m doing OK!” Dettori wrote. “I dislocated my right shoulder – my team here in the hospital have put it back together.

“Thanks for the messages of concern, it means a lot 🙏.”

Dettori is one of the most famous European jockeys in the world, with the 53-year-old producing a long list of accomplishments during his predominantly international career.

He’s won more than 275 top-level graded or Group 1 races and more than 500 graded or group stakes, including 15 wins at the Breeders’ Cup.

New York Racing Association communications director Keith McCalmont tweeted Thursday that Pretty Liza unseated Dettori prior to the start of the ninth race at Aqueduct on Thursday.

The horse reared while in the gate, sending Dettori to his back, according to the Daily Racing Form.

Pretty Liza was then scratched and walked off, per McCalmont.

A stretcher was brought out for Dettori but he walked to the ambulance on his own before being placed on a stretcher and taken to Jamaica Hospital, where the dislocation was revealed, per the DRF.

Dettori was scheduled to ride six horses Friday and eight Saturday at Belmont, according to the Daily Racing Form.

“The shoulder is back in place and Dettori heading home,” McCalmont tweeted Thursday, as relayed by Dettori’s agent, Ron Anderson. “Status on riding to update tomorrow.”

This year marks Dettori’s first with his focus in the United States, per the DRF, after he postponed his plans to retire following the 2023 season.

He recently won the $3.1 million Nashville Derby Invitational aboard Bellum Justum at Kentucky Downs.
