Open Borders America: A New Generation of Victims

Crimes against migrants are just the tip of the iceberg.

Editor’s note: Join Liberty Nation each week to stay updated on the nationwide ramifications of an open borders America.

Crimes committed by migrants are another hot-button issue sweeping the nation, especially with the recent influx of so many illegal immigrants. President Joe Biden and his administration opened the nation’s doors to the undocumented and started two programs to fast-track even more. Critics claim this has allowed for more crimes to be committed by those in the country illegally. It has also opened the door for criminality against migrants.

The CBP One app is one of the programs that allows 1,400 migrants to enter the country on a daily basis. The other is the Biden Administration’s Humanitarian Parole Program, which fast-tracks travelers from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, helping individuals with sponsors apply for authorization without even going to the border as long as they fly or transport themselves once approved. Up to 30,000 people from this program are allowed each month.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) wrote a letter again to Customs and Border Protection’s Acting Commissioner Troy Miller, requesting documents between Vice President Kamala Harris and the CBP. “The mass illegal entry and release of illegal aliens into the United States under the Biden-Harris Administration has contributed to murders, sexual assaults, and serious bodily injuries committed against numerous Americans at the hands of illegal aliens,” he wrote. “These crimes should have never happened.”

Retired Chief Border Patrol Agent Aron Heitke warned Fox & Friends First earlier this week that the increase in illegal immigration, especially “significant interest aliens,” is because of the lax border policies. “These are aliens with significant ties to terrorism,” he said. “There is a significant threat out there that we don’t know about,” he claimed, then offered an overview of his time working in the San Diego sector:

“In the last two years that I was in San Diego, San Diego averaged over the history of the sector – averaged 10 to 15 significant interest alien arrests per year … In 2022 that number jumped to well over 100. And in 2023, it was closer to 200. The numbers continue to skyrocket and that’s just what we got.”

He added that in 2022 and 2023, there were “entire sectors” along the borders of Arizona, Texas, and California that, at times, had “no agent presence at all,” and “We have no idea who and what came into our country over that time frame.” He explained that he encountered individuals “from many different criminal organizations and terrorist organizations.”

Crime and Migrants

There’s been no shortage of migrant-committed crimes reported in the media. Recently, Aurora, Colorado, hit the newsstands after the violent Venezuelan street gang Tren de Aragua took over an apartment complex. There have been many more such incidents.

Suspected migrant criminals are often released without notifying ICE, and some go on to commit more crimes. In New York City, police sources told the New York Post that as many as 75% of the people arrested in Midtown Manhattan for crimes such as assault, robbery, and domestic violence are migrants.

New Banner - This Week in Open Borders America“New York City eliminated a tool to get rid of violent criminals,” Jim Quinn, a former prosecutor at the Queens District Attorney’s Office, told The Post. “The sanctuary city law is pathetic. It’s disgusting. It’s crazy.”

But illegal migrants aren’t just committing crimes against Americans – they’re hurting other aliens as well. In New Mexico, a Honduran national, Darwin Jeovany Palma Pastrana, was federally indicted for reportedly conspiring with others to kidnap an illegal Guatemalan immigrant and then demanding ransom from the migrant’s Southern California family. In Albuquerque, police found stash houses where the undocumented were being kept, including one where 57 migrants were found on May 21.

Crimes involving migrants, whether committed by them or against them, may continue to rise as more people south of Texas enter the US. Even though border crossings have slowed, many have been allowed into the country without serious vetting. And who knows what trouble that will bring further down the line.

What will next week bring us in Open Borders America?
