New York City police said a man choked a six-year-old girl and assaulted her teen sister while stealing the girls’ necklaces in Brooklyn last week.
Authorities said the man violently robbed the two girls Wednesday inside their Crown Heights apartment building.
The 14-year-old sister told local TV station WABC that the two girls were walking home from school when the man followed the victims into the building’s small lobby and cornered them.
The girl said the man immediately demanded the girls’ gold necklaces, which were birthday gifts from their mother.
He then choked the six-year-old girl and ripped off her necklace before yanking the older sister’s necklace off her collar.
“The man grabbed me by the neck and then — my sister looked and she started getting scared. I didn’t have time … I couldn’t react. I only looked at my sister and she was screaming,” the older sister told WABC.
Police said Saturday that the light-skinned man stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and is between the ages of 25-40 years old.
He has dark hair in a ponytail and was last seen wearing white T-shirt and was carrying a Target shopping bag.
