Cornell University has reinstated vicious Jew-hating Professor Russell Rickford, who applauded the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust — and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul was at her mealymouthed worst in response.
This is what “history” prof Rickford said of the Hamas atrocities of Oct. 7: “It was exhilarating, it was energizing . . . I was exhilarated.”
Words fit for a Nazi.
Here’s what Hochul had her flack say to The Post about Rickford’s academic rehabilitation: “Gov. Hochul has repeatedly condemned the brutal Hamas terror attacks of Oct. 7 and believes any glorification of that brutality is outrageous and unacceptable.”
Words fit for a bowl of oatmeal.
Rickford later semi-apologized, and now he’s back teaching the kids of America’s elite at the upstate Ivy.
God knows what he’s assigning as reading material. Old issues of Der Stürmer? “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion”?
Cornell’s a private school; it can hire and fire over statements like this as it wishes.
But it does receive $127 million in state funding, and that’s where Hochul should be hitting it — if she had the moral courage to do something beyond issuing toothless statements.
No matter how woke a school is, monetary pain always seems to bring out the sanity among its administrators — as witness the departure of Cornell’s disgraced former President Martha Pollack, ousted partly because donors revolted.
Plus, as Hochul is ex officio a member of Cornell’s Board of Trustees — so she can push for a new prez (it has an acting one now) who can set the school on course to a future that doesn’t include faculty bigots like Rickford.
But we see little hope for more than platitudinous mush from her on this subject: Look at what she’s allowed her state to become.
In New York City, the center of Jewish life globally outside Israel, a massive pro-Hamas rally celebrating the murder of hostages took place this month.
Jews are openly stalked, harassed, intimidated and assaulted on college campuses and elsewhere by the new brownshirts.
This madness will only get worse as long as high officials like Hochul refuse to crack down on it.
It’s time to show some spine, gov.
