Speaking to Just the News’ John Solomon on the “John Solomon Reports” podcast about the Tuesday, September 10, debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, former Clinton advisor and strategist Mark Penn, now a pollster, called out ABC News over what he saw as bias and even “rigging” in the debate.

As background, ABC News has faced much fire over what happened during the debate, namely how the two ABC News moderators who hosted the debate were quick to fact-check former President Donald Trump over claims that were, in some cases, true, whereas they did not fact-check VP Harris over even outright lies about things such as the “fine people” hoax.

Commenting on the debate and how things went, Penn called for an outside firm, such as a law firm unconnected with the network, to launch a full-scale investigation of the debate and determine how the seemingly biased aspects of the debate happened and whether that, as he alleged, “rigging” of the debate was planned ahead of time.

Speaking to Solomon about that aspect of the situation and making the call for such an independent and extremely thorough investigation into ABC News and the moderators, Penn told John Solomon Reports, “I actually think they should do a full internal investigation, hire an outside law firm. I don’t know how much of this was planned in advance.”

Continuing, Penn suggested that it might even be the case that the Harris campaign was given some sort of heads up ahead of time, though he didn’t elaborate on what that heads up might have been, noting as well that suspicions of some sort of malfeasance are “high.” He said, “I don’t know what they told the Harris campaign. I think the day after, suspicion here is really quite high.”

Penn then described what the investigation should cover, saying, “And I think a review of all their internal texts and emails really should be done by an independent party to find out to what extent they were planning on, in effect, you know, fact-checking just one candidate and in effect, rigging the outcome of this debate. I think the situation demands nothing less than that.”

On a somewhat similar note, Megyn Kelly went on the offensive against ABC News after the debate, saying, “Well, I watched it. Did you watch it? I’m disgusted. I’m disgusted. I’m ashamed of those moderators at ABC News, they did exactly what their bosses wanted them to do. The person who runs ABC News is a close personal friend of Kamala Harris that is responsible for Kamala Harris and her husband meeting, and they did Dana Walden’s bidding tonight, it was three against one on that debate stage this evening.”

Kelly added, “This was a mistake to trust ABC News with this debate, the Republicans must learn from this mistake the same way the Democrats never, never agree to do anything with moderators they don’t entirely trust. This should be the last time the Republicans ever do this, because those two moderators tried to sink Donald Trump tonight.”
