Former President Donald Trump pledged Thursday to end all taxes on their overtime pay, saying it is time for the “working man and woman to finally catch a break.”
Mr. Trump said his plan will give people “more incentive” to work, benefiting everyone, from police officers to nurses and factory workers.
“No taxes on overtime,” Mr. Trump said at a campaign stop in Tucson, Arizona. “The people who work overtime are among the hardest working citizens in our county, and for too long, no one in Washington has been looking out for them.”
The promise is part of a broader Trump tax plan that includes eliminating taxes on restaurant tips and Social Security benefits, moves he hopes will boost his appeal with working-class voters in key swing states.
The campaign stop in Arizona comes days after Mr. Trump debated Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Polls show that they are locked in competitive battles in swing states nationwide.
“This is how we will end the era of inflation, mayhem, and misery under the Kamala and Crooked Joe regime and unleash safety, peace, and prosperity for Americans of every race, religion and creed,” Mr. Trump said.
