After the President of Iran (also known as the ‘Butcher of Tehran’) met a mountain, the Biden administration sent its condolences and stood for a moment of silence.

The State Department, whose own personnel were being targeted for murder, declared that “the United States expresses its official condolences for the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and other members of their delegation”.

When the UN shamefully held a moment of silence to honor the ‘Butcher of Tehran’ who had been responsible for the massacres of thousands of Iranians, Deputy UN Ambassador Robert Wood stood alongside other tyrants in mourning a tyrant with American blood on his hands.

“We pray for the Iranian people who mourn the death of their president,” the Senate chaplain shamefully intoned.

Now, the anonymous official policy is that there will be no more Biden administration tributes to the monster.

The 193-member UN General Assembly traditionally meets to pay tribute to any world leader who was a sitting head of state at the time of their death. The tribute will feature speeches about Raisi.

“We won’t attend this event in any capacity,” a US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters.

“The United Nations should be standing with the people of Iran, not memorializing their decades-long oppressor,” said the US official. “Raisi was involved in numerous, horrific human rights abuses, including the extrajudicial killings of thousands of political prisoners in 1988.”

“Some of the worst human rights abuses on record, especially against the women and girls of Iran, took place during his tenure,” the official said.

True, but that begs the question of why the Biden administration went along with this in the first place? And the likeliest answer is not that the administration grew a conscience, that there was enough of a backlash to dissuade the diplomats from participating in any further tributes to the ‘Butcher of Tehran’.

There’s no admission that treating Raisi like a world leader and Iran like a country, instead of a terror state, even while it’s trying to kill Americans was a mistake. After having done the wrong thing, they now pledge to do the right thing, as long as people are paying attention, and then they’ll do the wrong thing again.
